First off, I'm new to this forum, but have been lurking for a bit. Thanks for all of the great info and effort to share with the community.
I have a new LG WH16NS60, rev 1.02 in a Vantec USB enclosure running with Windows 10.
Dowloaded all files at the top of the thread, installed .NET framework.
Attempted to flash DE_LG_WH16NS60_1.00, but received Failure code #4.
I found a post where someone else had this error on a diff drive and it was recommended to flash a diff FW before flashing the FW for that specific model. Should I try HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS60-1.01-NM00100-211711202000 ?
Any other advice on what to try next in my situation?

Yes, please try flashing WH16NS60_1.01_MK firmware first, then either leave as is or flash 1.00 firmware.gt4400 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2019 11:25 pmFirst off, I'm new to this forum, but have been lurking for a bit. Thanks for all of the great info and effort to share with the community.

PS: Some Vantec adapters/enclosures don't work when flashing as they don't pass all the required commands through to the drive.
Cheers!

I guess I'll need to get to a buddy's where I can mount the drive into a desktop in order to complete. Any other adapters/enclosures that are more likely to work than Vantec?

I believe you need to crossflash either LG 1.04 MK or Asus 3.10 MK first before you can downgrade.

Yup. 1.02 can't be directly downgraded until a 1.02 mk version is released.

I attempted to update a BP50NB40 NB50 with the MK firmware, but got Update Error #4. Is that likely because the version of the drive I have has firmware 1.02 on it and I am not allowed to flash it with a modified 1.01 version?MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2019 12:34 amEDIT (24.08.2019): I have updated the Modified ASUS Flasher which will now allow:
- The LG BP60NB10 external UHD drive to be flashed with firmware LG_BP60NB10_1.00_MK only.
I'm sure this will help a few folks out!! See original post for the links.
- The LG BP50NB40 external Blu-Ray drive to be flashed with firmware LG_BP50NB40-NB50_1.01_MK only. (Not UHD friendly but enables libredrive.)
Cheers!

Yep, I would say so. Haven't seen one of these with 1.02!! Even LG's website still has 1.01 available for download! My BP50NB40 was on 1.01 and is now on 1.01-MK.keithhelms wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2019 6:58 amI attempted to update a BP50NB40 NB50 with the MK firmware, but got Update Error #4. I just bought it in the last month or two from Best Buy and the back shows it was built on May 8th of this year.MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2019 8:00 amYep, I would say so. You should be able to downgrade that with MK 1.01 I believe. Too bad there's not an easy way to dump the firmware for Mike so he can create a new MK 1.02 for people, though.
EDIT: Oh, wait, this would need to be cross flashed first. The ASUS MK 3.10 or the LG MK 1.04. But I don't know enough about this drive to know for sure that it works with those versions. It....MIGHT? After that, you can then flash MK 1.01. for your drive.
EDIT #2: NO, do NOT do what I said up there. That was very bad advice. Skip all that and keep reading.

That might work but I would not recommend it sometimes crossflashing slim drives make them stuck as a desktop drive and unable to read disks and there is no dosflash to recover these.
I would recommend he emails Mike to dump his fw and Mike can make an mk for it

Yep, I agree with Billy. Please contact Mike Admin and find out if he can extract your firmware from your drive "online". If he can, then he will be able to create a 1.02-MK firmware.keithhelms wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2019 4:57 pmI just bought it in the last month or two from Best Buy and the back shows it was built on May 8th of this year.MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2019 8:00 amYep, I would say so. Is the BP50NB40 NB50 complete UHD unfriendly, or are we waiting on a firmware hack to be able to read UHD?
