NEW OPTION: 'UHD Friendly' Firmware Downgrade / Cross-Flash Using Official (Modified) ASUS Flasher for ASUS & LG Drives
Re: NEW OPTION: 'UHD Friendly' Firmware Downgrade / Cross-Flash Using Official (Modified) ASUS Flasher for ASUS & LG Dri
It's happened before for some people. Not sure what causes it but as long as it's showing the right firmware and it's working you're good.

Some folk go with DE 3.02, others with MK 3.10. Both work well with MakeMKV and/or anyDVD. Dealers choice. MK 3.10 is a little better with triple layer discs I believe.ddeconin@gmail.com wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2019 10:13 amI got a BW-16D1HT. Not quite sure what firmware I best put on it now.. a DM or MK one?

Re: NEW OPTION: 'UHD Friendly' Firmware Downgrade / Cross-Flash Using Official (Modified) ASUS Flasher for ASUS & LG Dri
I've been testing some of my drives by ripping "American Made" 4k to ISOs and comparing MD5's, and came up with some results I don't understand.
The first 2 drives I tested were LG WH16NS40 SVC CODE NS50 that were originally ROM VER 1.03 that I downgraded to DE ver 1.02. They produced and MD5 of:
9642091b43af799d40c66c206835723b
One of my ASUS BW-16D1HT drives that came with a UHD-friendly ROM from the factory (ver 3.01 or early 3.02 I think) came up with the same MD5 as the LG WH16NS40's:
9642091b43af799d40c66c206835723b
A new ASUS BW-16D1HT that I received today came with a VER 3.03 ROM and I downgraded it to MK ROM VER 3.10. It produced an MD5 of:
baba16a5110588c6e8f5e00b24853595
I ripped the ISO a second time with the same results... The ISO does play, but.... MD5's don't match. Any thoughts?
I guess next I'll downgrade it to DE VER 3.02, and see what happens...

The md5 hash will never match. Welcome to the world of decrypting encrypted discs.

Of the drives I have tested with the same "American Made" UHD disc:
Asus drives:
3 with baba16a5110588c6e8f5e00b24853595
1 with 9642091b43af799d40c66c206835723b
LG drives:
1 with baba16a5110588c6e8f5e00b24853595
2 with 9642091b43af799d40c66c206835723b
Only 2 MD5s for the 7 drives. There are 2 different models of LG drives, 2 different firmwares-mix of factory & DE, no correlation that I can see between models/firmwares and MD5's.
All Asus drives are same model, but different manufacturing years and 2 different firmwares-mix of factory and MK, again, no correlation that I can see.
From the limited number of ISO rips I've done, the same MD5 will come up with the same drive every time.
Odd... at least there is some consistency to the results, not just a random MD5 for every drive every time you rip (the same disc).

I think you have a misconception that they SHOULD be the same. They're going to be the same for each drive, yes. Meaning Drive A rip 1 == Drive A rip 2. Drive A rip 1 != Drive B rip 1, however. How, exactly, are you making these ISO's you're testing since MakeMKV does not create them?

Have you tried 3.10-MK? It supposedly fixes the bug.
Cheers

3.10 definitely does not fix the sleep bug I have verified this myself
