Does anyone know a reasonable Discount Code for the MAC version. I'm from the UK and it's £52.57 ($67.05) which is pushing it!
So far I've tried all of these and none of them work:-
MAK50X
MKV-PIN
MKV-ASA
MKV-SUNNY

Re: Discount Coupons
There are no discount codes for MakeMKV.
Mike set the price as US$50. The processor converts that to the local currency and adds in any VAT or similar required by the buyer's country.

Re: Discount Coupons
So all the sites that have those codes are 'fake news'?
Damn, I guess I'll have to look for something else that'll do a similar job.
thanks

Re: Discount Coupons
No problem.
Of course, the "similar job" programs are subscription-based, rather than a lifetime license. And at least one of them ceased doing business after selling a bunch of "lifetime subscriptions" for many times what MakeMKV's license costs.

Re: Discount Coupons
The payment processor's form allows for a client to add discount codes, but Mike has not done that in the 8 years I've been around this forum.
The presence of the box does not imply the existence of such codes.

Re: Discount Coupons
It makes sense to me, but perhaps the removal of the discount coupons box should be implemented.
It would stop people like me asking the question.
Saving everyone a lot of time and effort.

Re: Discount Coupons
In any business/enterprise/corporation the merchant (in this case MakeMKV) and the payment processor can be two completely separate entities that do business together. In which case, MakeMKV cannot or may not have control of what the processor entity decides to display by default on their proprietary payment processor pages. In many cases, payment processors have a template webpage that is used for all merchants that do business with them and/or through them. Whether the options are used or not.
In short, the owner(s) of MakeMKV may simply not have any power/control over that. That simple.
Re: Discount Coupons
I appreciate your comment, and I'm just playing devil's advocate here, but in your 'simple' terms - are you telling me that a business selling its product would have no say on how their payment page is viewed by buyers? I have to question your opinion, as the factual evidence appears contrary to it, in this situation. (see screen grab below)
It would seem in reality in this case to be in fact the complete opposite of your opinion. Although I do understand where your coming from.
It's just if I were a business, I'd certainly want some control of my sales content within its required legal parameters. Wouldn't you?
Thanks anyway.
Re: Discount Coupons
I just wanted to chime in and say this. I had the same thoughts after the developer started to charge for Make MKV. It is $60 now not $50 by the way. So I went in search of another program and tried a couple. The thing is these programs were more expensive! You had to buy either a yearly license or you could buy a lifetime but most of them started at $90. I tried a couple that had a 3 or 7 day trial. Let me tell you nothing stood up to Make MKV. Now this could be because I am use to the program, but I feel Make MKV is straight forward. I know how to take out the subtitles and it gives me that option. On the program I tried, it had a pretty interphase and everything, but was not that simple! It baked in subtitles in Spanish and never gave me the option to not add them. The file was 11gigs, and when I handbrake it, the file was an exec file and not an MP4. This tells me that the file was weird to handbrake.
Then I thought this. I believe Make MKV has been around at least 10 years. Mike has made it free all this time giving us a new code every 2 months. I think he did this because when he charged for it, he wanted it to be as good as it can be. However this also means that Mike made no money for 10 years of making a program because he wanted to be fair to his customers. This is TOTALLY unheard of in the market these days! However I believe Mike was banking on the fact that since he did everything he could to make sure you have a great product even if that meant taken no money for himself, that a large majority of his customers would stay loyal to him. For this reason I sat back and said delete all these other programs, I am sticking with Make MKV. I feel that Mike has earned our loyalty and $60 is nothing! This means you have to cut out 8 Starbucks to get it. So let's continue to support Mike. He could charge a lot more than he is for a lifetime license! I think it is our turn to say thank you Mike but giving him our money that he deserves!
