Audio Synch error on Anime disc

I just ripped us version of GITS - Stand alone complex disc 1. Looks great but the english audio is about 2-4 seconds out of synch of the video. I included subtitles (don't know if that has anything to do with it or not).

Does the original, commercial disc play properly on the same system?

Yes, it does. Playing the dvd works fine, on dvd player, ps3 or dvd rom. After I make the mkv, playing them shows about a 4 to 5 second delay betweeen audio and video (the audio is ahead).

I'm also going to try playing it back on 2 different MKV media players...VLC and XMBC and see if the delay still happens.

Ok, I did. XMBC has a delay, VLC did not.

In recent XBMC releases, the de-interlacing performance is woeful.
If you have it turned on, try turning off the de-interlacing and see if you're still having sync issues.

thanks for the tip. i did try changing the settings...but xmbc seems to be the culprit. works fine in VLC.
