I just might purchase this one when it actually gets released in Australia. Gotta wait another 3 weeks yet!! At least by the time I get it, there should be no issues backing it up.
Cheers :D

Hi. I just registered here.
Been using MakeMKV for years backing up my BD's, mostly without issue.
I noticed for Aquaman, I am getting the error:

"Can't read AACS VID from disc - most likely current AACS host certificate is revoked by your drive
Saved AACS dump file as -:\------\-----/.MakeMKV/MKB_v66_Aquaman_E698.tgz
The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted
Failed to open disc "

I saw earlier in this thread somebody mentioned a BD drive in which it's working on. My drive is an LG Model GGC-H20L, who's last firmware ver. was over a decade ago, which is described as being only applicable for Windows Vista and XP systems. :/

Could that be my problem, and a drive upgrade be what I am needing? Or is there another issue?

I also noticed the following lines as well, "Automatic SDF downloading is disabled or failed.
This disc uses newer version of AACS protection. Please let us know about it by visiting http://www.makemkv.com/a/?tXGWFtpxzc3SN8..." (and I clicked the link to a confirmation page here)
Thanks!

Your drive is too old for UHD BD decryption. This topic has been discussed in many threads like this one for example:

https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic ... 19&t=19157

You will need to do some more reading to educate yourself. We can’t do this part for you. So start here:

https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=16

And here:

https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=19

There are dozens of topics already discussing requirements for UHD ripping and how to downgrade/“prepare” the drive firmware for this compatability. READ the sticky posts in the UHD subforums as they contain important information.

You can find some recommended drives here:

https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic ... 16&t=19145

Lastly, the forum search function works very well for finding additional posts on the matter or look for dicussions on specific drive models.

Just to update this, I ordered the LG WH16NS60 from Amazon.

Hoping there are no issues installing into my desktop PC.

There shouldn't be. The one "issue" you're going to have is that you will need to flash either a Downgrade Enabled (DE) 1.00 firmware OR an MK 1.01 firmware in order for the drive to work with MakeMKV. Once that's done, you'll be good to go.

OK, installed the drive fine. Still reading up on the process of the options you listed. Just to be clear, which of the 2 is the safest method, and which firmware provides the most versatility in applications for the drive?

I really do not want to risk bricking this, as I have already read about some issues.

Read that post. The DE or MK firmware will work either way so you can decide. Neither will brick your drive. Either of the flash tools will work, as well. They use the drive's built in update method so no need to worry about that, either. The bricking stories you've likely seen involve different drives or people using the old dosflash method when they shouldn't and doing it wrong. Flashing a DE or MK firmware to your NS60 will likely be very easy for you once you read about the process.

Alright, I think I've done everything correctly. Everything seems to be working great.

Absolutely awesome stuff here, and extremely helpful people. Thanks again everyone.

edit: 1 quick question. The drive came with an OEM version of Media Suite for UHD. I haven't used a Cyberlink product in years, but I was wondering if installing it would cause any problems at all with the firmware flashing I've done, or any other issues in general on my PC?

Good to know.

Although it's unlikely I'll even install it. Haven't really had much reason to watch BluRays on the PC since getting a good tv. And man, does Infinity War look incredible on the 82" QLED.

They also put new releases on shelves early, usually on the Monday, regardless of when it's actually released that week.
