No. If you try, bad things happen. See:

Re: Heads up - Support for LG UHD drives
I'm running a pc on Windows 10.
I have a brand new LG WH16NS60 v1.01 installed in a USB3.0 drive case. This was purchased because it was indicated on the forum that this is one of the "official" supported UHD drives.
I've tried to use the latest version of MakeMKV to read many of my 4kUHD movie discs. All have failed with a SCSI read error.
Step-by-step, what exactly do I need to do in order to get this "official" drive to work with MakeMKV and my library of 4kUHD discs.
Do I need to mount it internally?
Do I need to change the firmware?
Do I need to install LibreDrive?
Please ... provide guidance and instructions, along with any appropriate links.

Re: Heads up - Support for LG UHD drives
No need to mount it internally. Depending on your USB case, it should be flashable from there without issue.

Go there and get Marty's ASUS flasher.

Go there and get Mike's MK firmware pack
Use the NS60 1.01 MK from Mike's zip and flash it with Marty's ASUS flasher in Windows and you should be good to go with LibreDrive.

Re: Heads up - Support for LG UHD drives
Isn't it just worth waiting until 1.01 is supported, do we know when that will be?
Re: Heads up - Support for LG UHD drives
It is supported on 1.01 with MK patched firmwareDave77 wrote:Isn't it just worth waiting until 1.01 is supported, do we know when that will be?
The official 1.01 closed the communication of libredrive, thats why the MK patched 1.01 was released

I see, thanks. I'd thought the standard 1.01 fw was going to be supported eventuallyspl147 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2019 8:13 pmIt is supported on 1.01 with MK patched firmwareDave77 wrote:Isn't it just worth waiting until 1.01 is supported, do we know when that will be?

Flashing the patched firmware takes like 2 mins. And works perfectly!
I flashed my BU40N (v.1.02) and my WH16NS60 (v.1.01)with MK patched firmware

Re: Heads up - Support for LG UHD drives
I'm using NS60 1.01 MK, as well. Works great.
Re: Heads up - Support for LG UHD drives
Remember what really matters with a true "Official" drive is a the presence of the UltraHD Blu Ray logo.
So can anyone verify that with this interim MK firmware the BP60NB10 drive now works?
Is flashing over the USB port now possible?

That is something I would also like to know.
Still waiting for a response from support, for a long time now.

Re: Heads up - Support for LG UHD drives
Try it and see. I have a feeling the flashers won't like the enclosure though. Still worth a try. It will either work or it won't.
Cheers
