Re: LibreDrive for LG WH16NS60 and other UHD Friendly Drives
I would, if it wasn't such a pain and a risk. Last time I tried doing it with the WH16NS40 and I basically broke it.
Re: LibreDrive for LG WH16NS60 and other UHD Friendly Drives
The NS60 is fairly trivial to downgrade. There's literally only 2 firmware for this drive and no "revisions" like with the NS40. You grab the patched windows flasher and the 1.00 firmware for this drive and flash it. Done.

Re: LibreDrive for LG WH16NS60 and other UHD Friendly Drives
I had success downgrading my brand new WH16NS60. Everything worked as advertised and the result is I now have drive capable of ripping UHD Blu Rays. Thanks, here's the drive data...I notice the unrestricted speed is not enabled yet.
Next I tried the downgrade on my two year old WH16NS40 and I think it is now unusable. The downgrade from firmware v1.02-AO was going fine until about 97 % complete I got this....
After closing out the downgrade tool and rebooting I tried again, as the firmware was still showing the same as when I started. The second attempt finished successfully and the drive info was this....
Looked good but when I tried to read a disc the drive does not spin up at all no matter what kind disc is inserted. The OS shows the drive correctly in Explorer, and the MakeMKV sees it and returns correct drive info, but nothing will read. After looking at the LG support site it seems the WH16NS40 has quite a few instances of not reading discs.
Anyway, I'm glad I've got one good drive that can rip up to UHD discs. If anyone has any ideas on reviving the 40 let me know. Thanks for the hard work in getting the Libre Drive working.
PS- Found a post regarding the SVC Code on the drive label needs to be NS50 for the downgrade on work on the WH16NS40. My drive has NS40 so my bad for not seeing that before attempting the downgrade. Label also shows manufacture date of Nov 2014...way older than I thought. New one from Amazon for $58 on the way...

Re: LibreDrive for LG WH16NS60 and other UHD Friendly Drives
Hello OpenRift
I'am not able to backflash my WH16NS60 from firmware 1.03 to 1.02. The tools message, when I start flashing is: "Checksum Missmatch"
I cannot change my STATA configuration to IDE mode in the BIOS. This option is not available.
Do you have a tipp for my how to configure my drive to UHD friendly?
I'm looking forward for your response. Sincerly azeili
