wow 3 people with r names in 1 day lol
Got a little nervous when it said there were 5 errors during the flash process and the usb stick windows froze and needed a forced reboot, but currently testing on John Wick 2 and seems to be working and shows 3.02 version. Thanks again.

I didn't reflash it. You're saying I should go back, wipe the firmware and flash it again and repeat as needed till no errors?

Should I try a win 10 version like this instead of the one in the first post?

Hi all,

I used the windows method described in the OP, but got stuck on the HEX editor part.
Can someone use my FW dump to create an edited 3.02 FW for my ASUS_BW-16D1HT?

Thanks in advance! :)

Just wanted to say thanks. I purchased a couple of the BW-16D1HT drives from Newegg since they're on sale right now, $31 off, and followed the instructions on this post. Both came with 3.03, and I flashed to 3.02 using the winflash method via a usb stick, reading, editing the hex, and erasing/writing. I've dumped one of my movies so far without issue.

Brought a WB-16D1HT. Used the windows method to change firmware from 3.03 to 3.02 firmware from this forum. The firmware now reads 3.02.
Can see the drive in Control panel. Can not see in file explorer. Opens and closes but the light only flash once and then nothing. Running Windows 10. Drive working fine before downgrade. I do have the original flash dump. Maybe the 3.02 wasn't clean. Can someone point me to a clean 3.01 firmware so I can try that one? Thanks.

Unfortunately my bios's on both of my machines either only offer sata with no ide option or sata or raid.. i guess i'm out of luck short of finding another machine i take it?
Or is there a firmware updater that will work when in sata mode?

Thanks again MartyMcNuts!

My motherboard died last Thursday... talk about bad timing. >.<
New parts installed yesterday but that no longer had an IDE option.
Luckily my old server does have an IDE mode!

Used the windows 7 usb again and this time erase/write flash with DOSFLASH.
First time it failed though, wrong firmware error 02 if I remember correctly.
Did the erase/write flash a second time and it finished without error and reported writing successful!

Ripped my first 4K disc (Justice League) today! :D
