WH14NS40 - nope

Post by yorick »

Someone on these forums had success with a WH14NS40 and FW 1.02. There may be more than one version of that drive around. I was not able to read UHD discs with the WH14NS40 in this system. Symptom is "no disc" in either Windows or MakeMKV. Tested FW 1.01, 1.02 and then, since it wasn't working anyway, 1.03 (just for Windows). No go with any of these.

Time for a new drive.

If the SVC code on the label does not say "NS50" or higher, it won't work - the hardware doesn't support BD-XL reading well enough to do UHD, and no change in firmware will make it work.
