100% Firmware Downgrade for ASUS BW-16D1HT and LG BH16NS55

I found this advice on another forum & I would like some opinions on it.

The best flash is to use LGWH60NS40 ROM v1.02, or ASUS 16D1HT v3.02 or LGWH60NS60 v1.00 as the base for UHD "friendly" depends on which drive you have, then replace the 0x001E9000 to the end (the section for the burning strategy) with ASUS 16D1HT v3.03's 0x001E9000 to the end (ASUS has the best burning strategy .Of course and importantly, replace with the dumped 0x001E8000 to 0x001E84FF (unique to each individual drive).

Especially the part about using the ASUS v3.03 firmware 0x001E9000 to the end.

Is this how it works & is this the better burning engine ?

never tried that i would just go the normal way not combine asus and lg just move the calibration data, but i did find a way to get rid of the sleep bug on non uhd official drives with a similar method once makemkv supports it i will start selling them.

Cheers borrowed an old Lapps from work with WIN 7 32 on it, my Laptop needs 18 screws removing to get into the Satan ports, ouch.

i tried that before but my laptop sata would not power the drive and how are you going to boot if no pe windows and you remove hard drive unless the laptop has 2 drive bays?

Good points, I won't have any problems using the pe edition from USB if needs be, or I could just do it in DOS, I used to use MTK flash all the time when the 360 first came out
I'll over come the power problem if I encounter it somehow. Just need to find the time to do get round to doing it lol.

Also, I have attached the ASUS firmware updater downloaded at the end of 2017 if you want to use it. After I flashed my drive to ASUS 3.01, I then used this firmware updater to upgrade my drive to ASUS 3.02. I assume this still works. If not, just reflash the ASUS 3.01 I gave you.

Do i now need to follow the guide in post 1? Or can i use the FW_Updater and just load the .bin file to get it from 3.03 to 3.01?
Do i need to change the ahci to IDE?
Do i need the PE or can i just use old win7 32bit for this?

Yes, you should still follow the guide in post 1. The ASUS updater I provided is only to upgrade from 3.00 or 3.01 to 3.02. It will not work to downgrade from 3.03.

IMPORTANT: Always dump your original 3.03 firmware fist and make a couple of backups of it (just in case!)

There is also a clean 3.02 firmware available (in this thread I believe) for download, so the ASUS firmware updater isn't really needed anymore.

If you have any issues, just upload a copy of your original 3.03 firmware and I can create a 3.02 for you.

Your welcome! It's really not that difficult.

Just make sure you have a PC that can be put into IDE mode in the BIOS and ensure that you dump your original firmware first and back it up. As long as you have a backup of your original firmware, your unit can be restored if you mess up.

As I said previously, if you have any issues, upload a copy of your 3.03 and I can create a 3.02 for you.

I have an ASUS BC-12D2HT on firmware 3.01, so it can't read UHD discs.

I don't have any PCs that can use IDE mode for SATA, what are my options?

Is there anything that doesn't need IDE?

Hi you was right about the laptop not providing enough power for the drive, luckily I have a sata mains power brick that I haven't used for ages, I also had to disconnect the laptops internal rom drive to get dos flash to run properley.

All done now, up and running, thanks to everyone involved with the project.

Ps, would a team executer 360usb pro device work under windows 32?

I manage to dump the original FW now
But i think i need help with the modification of the file. I have attached the file (had to edit the name to .txt to upload it.)

I did step 1-7 in: "Steps for dumping firmware : (Windows Method)". After this it got a litte hard to figure out.

Realy Nice if you can help me with this.
I understand that after the file is modded, i again use the same program as i used for dumping to erase the fw, then upload the new fw you made. Is this the right way?

(i have 3 backups of the original dump)
