The Equalizer

Post by Trasper »

The Equalizer won't rip. MakeMkv find the disc, but as soon as "the check box list" appear the player works hard for a few seconds, before a "no disc" message shows.

I believe it's something wrong with my disc, but since it's a Sony movie, I was wondering if it was the "Patriot/Fury thing".

Anybody had any problems with The Equalizer?

Thanx

Thank you!

Then it's my disc.
Gonna ask the store to take mine back, and give me a new one.

Not without more information than "it doesn't work".

Debug log (FAQ link in my signature) would go a long way towards providing the information to make guesses at "what's wrong".

Agree with Woodstock.
Also, did you clean the disc? Many times this helps even though the disc "looks" clean. Use a solution of 50/50 water and rubbing alcohol with a clean microfiber cloth. Clean a few times and try again. Good Luck

Thank you for the replies.

Now I got two The Equalizer 4k discs. (The store let me keep the old one, in addition to give me a new).

Same problem with both.
The disc take longer than usual to load.
Make MKV finds the disc, but when it gets to where you check/uncheck audio tracks and subtitles, the option to check/uncheck is showing just for a few seconds, then a "No disc" is showing.

I've cleaned both disc, same result.
The blu-ray version of the movie works fine, so do other UHD discs, so it has to be the discs.

One disc to fail, it happens, but two?
Maybe I got both from a bad batch.

Gonna give it a new try later.

Try using ImgBurn
Won't decrypt so image will have limited value, still would be non decrypted image, but see what it reports in terms of read errors or retries

The two The Equalizer I had was bought in England, as mentioned, both had the same problem.
Got a third from US today, ripping now and so far it seems to work fine.

Weird, since all three was bought new.
Anyway, happy it finally worked out.

I keep trying the US released UHD disc every few days. I keep getting the error about not being able to decrypt:
The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted
Backup failed

I email the dump file to svq@makemkv.com
Is that still the correct email address to send it to?

Yes, it is. How long ago did you send it? It can take a few days for support. It's not immediate.

I've been sending the file every few days for the last couple of weeks.
