About this copy bluray files to harddrive

MakeMkv instructs the user to copy the blue ray file to the hard drive when experiencing a read error from the blu ray reader. Next step is to go to the open files option and point it to the index.bdmv or the MovieObject.bdmv in the BDMV folder. When I do this I get the following error:
The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted
Failed to open disc

What? Of course you can't open the disc. There is no disc. Can someone clarify what MakeMkv is instructing us to do here.

Do you have debug logging turned on? If so, try the operations again, and copy the log information to a reply here. Don't bother trying to do an attachment, just put the log into the text of the message.

The files necessary do generate the volume key are not reliably copied by the operating system.
