It seems that I may have a bootleg copy. When I open the disc in MakeMKV, I get the following message:
It appears that you are opening the disc processed by DvdFab/MacTheRipper which is known to produce damaged VOB files. Errors may follow - please use original disc instead.

The Bandai disks won't give that message, for sure... I got it from my Castle disks purchased through Amazon, though!

I entered a claim with Amazon and they are going to give me a full refund (even after a full 90 days after purchase). I'm just going to wait and get this instead: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MMOZ1SS/ref ... UJVZHWE88M

I believe I have run into the same (or similar) problem. It's finding the titles, but they are merged into one large title. Here's the log file for the first disk (of 5) in the dvd set.

Code: Select all

Using 524544KB for read cache.
001005:0000 MakeMKV v1.9.10 win(x64-release) started
001004:0000 Debug logging enabled, log will be saved as C:\Users\XXX/MakeMKV_log.txt
003007:0000 Using direct disc access mode
003025:0000 Title #1 has length of 19 seconds which is less than minimum title length of 120 seconds and was therefore skipped
003025:0000 Title #3 has length of 22 seconds which is less than minimum title length of 120 seconds and was therefore skipped
003025:0000 Title #4 has length of 103 seconds which is less than minimum title length of 120 seconds and was therefore skipped
003019:0000 Cells 2-end were skipped due to cell commands (structure protection?)
003028:0000 Title #7 was added (1 cell(s), 0:08:48)
Title skip vts=5 pgcn=2 hash=6BFACC0E975AAF71
003019:0000 Cells 32-end were skipped due to cell commands (structure protection?)
003028:0000 Title #11 was added (31 cell(s), 2:24:28)
Title skip vts=7 pgcn=1 hash=FCD1722A405FA4BD
003019:0000 Cells 7-end were skipped due to cell commands (structure protection?)
003028:0000 Title #12 was added (6 cell(s), 0:24:36)
Title skip vts=7 pgcn=2 hash=4BC1A8D260D4ADCD
003019:0000 Cells 6-end were skipped due to cell commands (structure protection?)
003028:0000 Title #13 was added (5 cell(s), 0:23:57)
Title skip vts=7 pgcn=3 hash=56A6D7B4386503EF
005011:0000 Operation successfully completed
Title #11 is actually 5 episodes, and it comes out as a single entry. This is the release that I have. And here are all the log files and .IFO's files for all the disks in the set.

It is actually strange that the Funimation release would have combined episodes - they usually avoid that.

So does that mean it's supposed to be like that? So there's no way to extract all the titles separately? I'd rather not extract one large file then manually cut it up.

I can't say on the Funimation disks - I only have the older Bandai release on DVD, which was individual episode files. As I said, though, it's rare for Funimation to combine them. On the DVDs, were they combined as well, or individual episode files?

I can understand not wanting to do the extra work, but... Consider than processing the large files through handbrake, breaking them up by ranges of chapters, has the added benefit of shrinking the video by about 80%. Most anime titles
