Can backup new Fox titles?
Can backup new Fox titles?
Am I allowed to ask about specific titles? I'm curious if MakeMKV can backup the new Fox titles that AnyDVD can't backup.

Re: Can backup new Fox titles?
Hi!
Since you're inquiring about Fox titles, I presume you're referring to BluRays (for which, thusfar, Fox has been the only major studio to utilize "BD+" copy protection over and above the standard "AACS" copy protection found on virtually all Blu Ray discs)
Presently, there are no known BluRay discs that MakeMKV is unable to decrypt/"rip" - as either a full BluRay disc backup or as an .MKV.
What specific titles are you interested in? (I wasn't aware that SlySoft's AnyDVD HD was currently unable to "rip"/decrypt" any BluRay discs)

Re: Can backup new Fox titles?
"Avatar" hasn't yet been released (scheduled for 4/22) nor, I believe has "Cocoon", so how could you or anyone else KNOW that AnyDVD HD can't process them?
Re: Can backup new Fox titles?
So far it's unclear. But posts on the anydvd forum indicate that this is the case. Cocoon (1985) apparently use a known MKB, not v17 but an older one, but the bd+ circumvention fails, it's not known if it's because of a bug or if it's because it's using a new bd+ version. For Avatar it's unclear which MKB or bd+ version it's using.setarip_old wrote:"Avatar" hasn't yet been released (scheduled for 4/22) nor, I believe has "Cocoon", so how could you or anyone else KNOW that AnyDVD HD can't process them?

Pointless speculation.
We'll all know soon enough, when they're officially released...

Yes. But more detailed information may surface before the retail date.setarip_old wrote:

If it's that important to you, then by all means, continue your research - at OTHER forums - remember, you've already tried this one and the Doom9 Forum...

Locking this thread due to being useless as the titles in question are not out yet.
