Noob trying to learn - X-Men Days of Future Past

Post by HTPC23 »

I'm fairly new to this so please excuse my stupidly for lack of a better term :)

I did four different rips of Xmen:DoFP but I cant get the subtitles to show up in any of them.
MakeMVK shows two English and two English (forced only) subtitles so I did four different rips doing just one of the different 4 options each time. No subtitles show up in any of those playbacks I do.

Now the doc listed at...
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... dit#gid=20
shows the subtitles are 'separate' and at 52:15.

I have done a bit of research on forced, separate and hardcoded subtitles but I still don't understand it clearly.

So what am I doing wrong here? Anyone else ran into this issue? Is it even an issue or am I just doing it wrong?

Thanks in advance!

Question 1 - what are you playing the MKV file with?
Question 2 - is this the DVD or Bluray version of the title?

A lot of players cannot handle BD subtitles in an MKV file. It doesn't matter what settings you use to rip if the player is not PGS-subtitle aware.

Sorry totally forgot to put that info in.
1) I used Emby Theatre (aka MediaBrowser)
2) BluRay

Check that you have a version that supports subtitles.... Searching Google for "emby theatre pgs subtitles" comes up with posts dated in the last 45 days that say ALL subtitles are broken in the (then) latest build.
