Given the complete lack of complaints that MakeMKV won't rip Kill Bill 1 coupled with the fact that this bug only exists in version 1.8.12 and I'd say you have a dirty/faulty disc on your hands.

Well, no. It's brand new right out of the package so it certainly isn't dirty. Also it rips every other track (extras) fine. It just fails on the main title.
I'm trying Vol.2 now to see what happens. These are from the Blu-Ray double feature combo pack.

Here you go:

http://www.makemkv.com/forum2/viewtopic ... ill#p30366

someone was ripping Kill Bill on November 8th 2013...

/download/history.html

...and they'd have been using version 1.8.5. Since you've already tried 1.8.5 and it didn't work then obviously there's something wrong with your disc.

I think the discs are fine. KB2 just failed also.... but rips all the extras.
I just went back from 1.8.7 to 1.8.5 again to be certain and I get this:

Hard to believe I would have 2 bad discs... this is a combo pack and not individually purchased movies
http://www.amazon.com/Kill-Bill-Double- ... ll+blu+ray
... could there be something different about these discs? Or is there a different problem I don't know about?

Can't read AACS VID from disc - most likely current AACS host certificate is revoked by your drive
Highest AACS version is v46 , MKB saved as C:\Users\Hutt/.MakeMKV/MKB_v46_THE_ZOMBIE_HORROR_PICTURE_SHOW.tgz
The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted

Even brand new discs are often bad. Exchange it for a different one.

anddes, several things at work here, the big one being that your drive has encountered version 46 of AACS. At this point, the drive itself will refuse to rip BDs of ANY level AACS for versions of MakeMKV prior to 1.8.11.

So what exactly are you telling me...

Because I ripped this bluray a couple weeks ago
THE_ZOMBIE_HORROR_PICTURE_SHOW

This is a newer BD (May 19, 2014 release) and I think the last thing I ripped until the Kill Bill attempt...
Because of this my actual drive will not rip ANY BD I try unless I use version 1.8.11 or newer?
Just want to point out that that BD (Zombie Horror Picture Show) was ripped using version 1.8.9... this is what I've been running for awhile now until I ran into the issue with Kill Bill yesterday.

So are you telling me that by my optical drive encountering a disc with a newer copy protection scheme will automatically make it unable to rip discs unless my software is updated? What happens that allows it to affect hardware?

Testing your theory now with a disk that I have ripped in the past.

Assuming you are correct... tried yesterday and haven't been able to rip Kill Bill with 1.8.11 or 1.8.12
Testing another movie like I said right now with 1.8.7...
See what happens there then I will install 1.8.11 again and try Kill Bill again.

It would be nice it these were going to fail if they would do it right away but they go until about 99% done before they fail... so any test takes 30-50 minutes.

Thanks.

46 was added with v1.8.7 so any version before then is useless for your drive from now on.

Generally the combo packs contain exactly the same discs as the single releases. There was a combo version of Kill Bill in Canada that was both movies on one Blu Ray but it had DTS-MA and so isn't relevant. Post the output of a Kill Bill rip from version 1.8.7 or later and we'll see what we can see.

Nothing MakeMKV is capable of doing will cause SCSI errors, only the Hardware can do that. Not only is that not a MakeMKV error, there's absolutely nothing MakeMKV can do to stop them.

Hmmm, ok. Weird thought that if I have a hardware issue its only doing it on the Kill Bill discs... why not everything?
I will give it a shot of a different computer later this afternoon and post the results.

Thank you for the help.

Hardware Error just means it's the Drive itself that's spitting out the error rather than any software. The drive can't read the disc, most likely because the disc is faulty/damaged/dirty.

Tried it on another computer. Worked perfectly fine.
Watching the MKV with LPCM audio as I type this.
Told you guys the discs were ok
Weird though that it is only these 2 Kill Bill discs that are giving me problems....

Anyway, thanks again for the help.
