Failure moving, "Movie.mkv", onto DVD for a dvdplayer

Post by Walter Lacey »

I Believe. There is still something wrong with the formatting of the output of the MakeMKV program.
Just look at the agreement of these other programs.

Saga of copying attempt of a usual, DVD for DVD player use:

First, six (encrypted), DVD's --> MakeMKV --> Movie.mkv
Great job of De-crypting!
each .mkv movie played thru VideoLan_VLC OK.
then used:
--------------------
Free MKV Video2Dvd
from: http://www.effectmatrix.com
using the MKV2DVD program to convert .mkv to DVD, gave a Warning: Pack Header Not Correct,
and then locked the MKV2DVD program, (Not Responding),
the MKV2DVD author could not figure it out and wanted me to send him the movie for debugging.
----------------------
chucking this one, I tried another,

------------
trying Handbrake: Blue Thunder Movie thru MakeMKV, into Title00.MKV thru Handbrake notes:
result= video with sound lagging about 9 seconds
Handbrake Forum was abandoned about 2009 and the author went on to IMG Burn I think.
from Handbrake Log:
x264 [warning]: --psnr used with psy on: results will be invalid!
x264 [warning]: --tune psnr should be used if attempting to benchmark psnr!
------------------
chucking again, I tried another,

------------
Avi2Dvd
Result: video but no sound at all.
-----------
chucking again, I tried another,

------------
DVD Flick, run1 no sound
file made from Blu Thunder.mkv: --> mkvtemp .... picture using VLC but no sound
had error in log file...value wrong: r: 0
file not encoded
------------
chucking again, I tried another,

---------------
trying QtlMovie:
QtlMovie made an iso which I burned to DVD using ImgBurn. It was my first DVD burn.
RESULT:
there were warnings in the operation..... data not aligned, result in speed loss
start time not set in estimate_timings_from_pts....?
estimating duration from bitrate... may not be accurate.....
it took 2 hours for 2pass transcode.
There were glitches, sputters, freeze moments, skips or whatever the description. But all were nearly the same ugly splat, which occured throught the movie at seemenly fixed intervals. My guess, about every 8 to 15 min in movie showing.
------------
chucking again, I tried another,

----------------------------
DVDStyler-2.7.2-win32
This one worked... almost.
Whether I made an iso and used ImgBurn or burned directly from DVDStyler the resulting DVD had a reoccuring glitch in sound and video throughout the movie just like the QtlMovie result.
And yet the .iso or preview mode both played fine, using VLC, after DVDStyler.
I even tried reducing all other computer loads to do the burn, with no good effect.
----------
The End.....W-H-O-E-E-E--- Have I reached the End Of The Internet?

Where did you get that bizarre notion?

What does the PSNR warning have to do with anything?

I just figured it was a practical joke and ignored it.

Please ndjamena, I think neither of us to be such a thing.
However if you were refering to my post and note about Handbrake, I have found I may be in error about Handbrake as, "Unsupported." I cannot recall exact details, but I did read in one of these program forums, a post of the forum author saying it was a new year and must move on to new things, "unspecified". And the last post in the forum was dated Jan or Feb 2009.
Somewhere later, I read a poster comment that he was putting out ImgBurn.
Surely, I can be mistaken about which forum I was in at the time. Forgive me!
But if my general complaint of MakeMKV would go ignored, it remains, yet to be read by a rational and thinking reader. Such a one would never stumble over this error. When in fact, wheather, it be Fact or Error, it is inconsequential, "IF" Many Programs Fail to Process MakeMKV's Output Because of some ERROR in MakeMKV!
Thats the real point. Thank you.

The handbrake forums can be found at forum.handbrake.fr , and are quite active. Stop by to pick up a current version of the program (lots of development since 2009) and discuss your problem file, if it is still a problem when using the current version.
