Installing on Mac 10.9

Post by pj10128 »

When I downloaded the 1.8.6 disk image and tried to install it, I got an error message that it could not be opened because it is from an un identified developer. Is this because of some security setting I have chosen on my mac or is it because this beta version is not comparable with 10.9?

I am having the same issue running OSX 10.9 - screen shot of error attached.

Happened with 1.8.6 so I uninstalled and tried to install 1.8.5 with same error and uninstalled and tried 1.8.4 with same result.

I can no longer run MakeMKV...

You need to change your settings in

System Preferences/Security & Privacy/General

to "Allow apps downloaded from Anywhere".

You can also right-click on the application and select Open from the resulting menu. You'll get a similar prompt to what you saw before, but instead of only having an OK button, you'll have Open and Cancel buttons. This method allows you to run an unsigned application when you need to, but the overall system setting stays in place to keep you protected. Note that this prompt only happens the first time you launch the application.

You just have to hold the ctrl key while left-clicking the program, then you can confirm you want to open this program :D

As an ex-Apple Genius, I would strongly suggest the right click then choose open method.

Allowing any app to run is creating an unnecessary security risk. You only need to right click it the first time you run it, afterwards your Mac will trust the software.
