Failed to save title 0 to file

Hi
I have been running into this error today

Failed to save title 0 to file /media/
0 titles saved, 1 failed
and the log file shows lots of info
and this is just a snippet that I can understand
004007:0010 AV synchronization issues were found in file '/media'
004008:0010 AV sync issue in stream 1 at 0:05:18.145 with duration of 285.696s : 8928 overlapping frame(s) dropped at segment boundary
004008:0010 AV sync issue in stream 1 at 0:05:18.145 with duration of 30.916ms : encountered overlapping frame, audio skew is +30.916ms

Is there a parameter that can be set to give a wider tolerance for errors?

MakeMKV v1.8.5 linux(x64-release) on debian sid
Thanks

AV synchronization issues were found
Looks like a dirty or damaged disk to me.

Mike will have to decode the debug messages; they're saying that MakeMKV hit an unusual condition, and was attempting work-arounds. It would seem that they didn't work. The full log should be posted, to give Mike more information to work from.

The AV sync issue warnings can be suppressed, and usually are, by default.

As for tolerance for errors - while you can increase the retry count for reads, errors in reads mean errors in the file. While a dedicated player will skip over minor errors, that gives you audio/video glitches. Ripping software is trying to get an exact copy of the original.... so errors are bad.

As suggested, try cleaning the disk. Personally, I also wax disks with a water-based wax (alcohol and petroleum-derived carriers are bad for plastic disks). It makes a lot of disks that "won't load" work. Sometimes, just long enough to get a rip off of them, other times "forever" (until they get another scratch, that is!). But, I don't worry about them after I get the rip done, because they're just going into storage.

This is a disc-specific error that indicates that video stream is corrupted. Sometimes this is because of disc error, sometimes the disc is mastered incorrectly. The workaround can be added, but you have to submit a full log (as written by MakeMKV in home directory) as it contains additional data. Please send the full log to support@makemkv.com
