makeMKV 1.8.1 failed to initialize

I installed makeMKV version 1.8.1 both source and binary.
At start both fail with an "Application failed to initialize" error message,
but no further details.
Is there a way to find out what's wrong?

(V. 1.8.0 worked but after reinstall fails too..)

what happens if you run console version, makemkvcon?

makemkvcon info dev:/dev/sr0

Failed to initialize

the mkv command brings the same error too,
whereas "makemkvcon" alone brings it's help page

It's working!

I removed everything "manually", and rebuild/reinstalled the
1.8.1 source version.

I will test if the gentoo "makemkv" package, installed
via "emerge", is working.. (just for interest) and if no,
complain at the gentoo team..
