Errors with 1.7.7

Post by MakOwner »

Just tried ripping a copy of "The Dictator" which resulted in a rather spectacular list of audio related errors.

Among the most serious was this:

Code: Select all

They're not errors, just information. On branching discs there is usually a frame overlap as it jumps from one clip to the next. If MakeMKV didn't remove them, the audio would go out of sync. Stand alone blu-ray players handle the overlap in a similar fashion.

As for why it's failing with a trace error, Mike will have to look and tell you.
Home Theater PC: Assassin HTPC, XBMCbuntu 12.0 (Frodo), Intel i5 3570k 3.4 GHz Ivy Bridge w/ HD 4000, LG BD-ROM
Playback Devices: Mede8er MED600X3D, MyGica EnjoyTV 120, Xtreamer SideWinder 3, Crystal Acoustics MediaMatchBox

MakeMKV failed to break CSS encryption on this specific title. This happens very rarely, and only if your drive's region doesn't match DVD disc.

The rip of the movie failed. The region setting on the player matches the disc. Both region 1.
I'm getting the same issue with "The Other Guys" DVD.

Some new corruption of the disc that libdvdread or nav can't handle.

dvdbackup can't handle them either, so it's not just makemkv.

Anyone know if "The Dictator" and "The Other Guys" can be successfully ripped from BluRay?

Interesting. Might be a new copy protection as well. Please try to capture a test dump for a main title per instructions at http://www.makemkv.com/onlinehelp/testdump.html .

I will. On the road this week, so it will be later.

Th error seems to oroginate in the libdvd libraries though.

I have seen this with
The Hunger Games
Thie Dictator
The Other Guys.

The Dictator main title would not copy.
The hinger games the main title copied but on of the other titles failed.
The Other Guy had the error, failed on of the titles, but produced two 4.0GB and one 4.4GB title.

I posted a rather detailed message here last week, but the message disappeared shortly after I wrote it.

If I follow the debugging instructions in that link provided, makemkv literally never stops running.
I let it run for over three days, and it never completed.

I have some other internesting output that may be of some use, but if it's just going to disappear....
