Greetings!
I have followed all relevant recommendations on this forum to resolve this common issue but I am still stuck. Can you help?
(In my case the problem disc is the blu-ray disc included with the deluxe version of Rick Wakeman's Return to the Red Planet, released Oct 2nd.)
First, I followed this instructions to install the Libre Drive firmware onto my copy if MakeMKV, and I was successful.
The posts I read here stated that if I have the Libre drive installed I wouldn't need to worry about having the latest db keys to rip the disc.
This has not prooven to be the case.
1) Is this correct or not?
Second, assuming having Libre drive installed won't allow me to rip this new blu-ray disc, I have followed the given instructions on this forum to get the keys for this disc added to the database MKV uses. So, I e-mailed the tgz dump file to svq@makemkv.com back on October 22nd. I have been downloading the latest keydb file from https://fvonline-db.bplaced.net/ over the last several days and placing the latest keybd.cfg file into my .MakeMKV folder on my Windows PC and running MakeMKV attempting to rip the new disc with no success.
So, here are my questions:
1) Am I getting some of this wrong?
2) Am I being impatient? Am I expecting the database to be updated with keys for this disc too soon?
3) Or should the LibreDrive be working without the need for keys, etc,?
Thanks in advance for your help!!

The problem is that you are using an old version of MakeMKV that does not natively decrypt AACS v82 discs. Update to MakeMKV v1.18.4 and you will be able to rip it. Do not use MakeMKV v2.0.0 as it has various issues.swan36fc wrote: Mon Nov 02, 2026 9:25 pm Greetings!

Thank you!
In my case I have my software and files on a non-Internet PC. I did just download this file from MKV:
makemkv_v1.18.4_osx.dmg 2026-06-15 17:38 42M
Will I be able to place this file in one of the folders of my current version to where it can update to this version?

I'm a Windows user. I have no idea how you install software on a Mac. It's foreign to me..swan36fc wrote: Tue Nov 03, 2026 12:05 am Thank you!

Do not use v2.0.0! It has issues.16442496 wrote: Tue Nov 03, 2026 5:17 am16442496 wrote: Tue Nov 03, 2026 5:14 amMakeMKV 2.0.0 for Windowsswan36fc wrote: Tue Nov 03, 2026 12:05 am Thank you!

Re: 'This disc uses newer version of AACS protection' - What am I misssing that I still can't rip to MKV from this blu-r
Hi all, I appreciate your input on this!!
Actually, my non-Internet PC is running Windows, I just posted the wrong file. Thanks for catching that!!
I now have the correct file: v1.18.4 for Windows setup.
This does raise some questions, so here goes:
1) If I install this new version, will I lose my existing firmware setup for LibreDrive?
2) Is there another way I can update to v1.18.4 without a full install?
Thanks!!

"full install" just means you told the installer to put everything in... but it doesn't mean you OVERWROTE the original install. Just use a different directory.
I personally have almost a dozen different installs on my system. Some work better with certain disks than others.
