Hello,
Is or has anyone had issues with the Amazon exclusive Rambo Complete Collection boxset, particularly the 5th film, Rambo: Last Blood. My Pioneer BDR-XS07U can't read my disc. It appears to be in perfect condition however I still did a careful clean of the disc just in case because sometimes doing this has solved similar issues on other discs however that had no effect on this one. All of the other discs in the set were read and ripped without a single issue. All discs were perfectly seated on their anchors when I opened the package. Even outside of MakeMKV, Windows can't read the disc in the drive at all, it just tries a number of times and then ejects it.
Thanks

1. Clean the disc, even if it looks pristine.SimplyLearning wrote: Sat Oct 24, 2026 2:56 am Hello,

2. If that doesn't help, try a different drive. Some drives just don't like some discs.
Cheers

Re: Rambo: Last Blood can't be read
Thanks for the suggestions. I had cleaned it yesterday to no effect. I just took the disc to my standalone player, an Oppo BDP-205 and it plays fine in there. Unfortunately my laptop internal drive can not read 4K discs so I'm unable to use that and am stuck with just my external Pioneer BDR-XS07U.So it sucks not being able to rip this disc.MartyMcNuts wrote: Sat Oct 24, 2026 5:35 am1. I'm running into the same thing. Seems the encryption was changed for this release. Hoping it is decrypted soon. For reference:
The AACS dump file "****MakeMKV/MKB20_v82_Rambo_-_Last_Blood_22EC.tgz" was successfully sent for analysis
The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted
Failed to open disc

The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted
Failed to open disc

Ah interesting. Thanks for posting. At least I'm not the only one. Hopefully we'll get to rip it soon.
Was just about to purchase another drive from another brand with hopes that would do it. Could have been a lot of money unnecessarily spent.

Did you create a post in the public keydb submissions thread? It's usually faster.Savhage wrote: Mon Oct 26, 2026 3:04 am I'm running into the same thing. Seems the encryption was changed for this release. Hoping it is decrypted soon. For reference:

Your issue is not the same as what Savhage has encountered:SimplyLearning wrote: Tue Oct 27, 2026 2:14 am Ah interesting. Thanks for posting. At least I'm not the only one. Hopefully we'll get to rip it soon.

The key is not currently available for his disc but the disc was still visible to both his operating system and MakeMKV. That level of visibility is a prerequisite for generating a disc dump file.Savhage wrote: Mon Oct 26, 2026 3:04 am I'm running into the same thing. Seems the encryption was changed for this release. Savhage will be able to process his disc after the keys are available. But the key availability won't help your disc drive to detect and read the disc.SimplyLearning wrote: Sat Oct 24, 2026 2:56 am Even outside of MakeMKV, Windows can't read the disc in the drive at all, it just tries a number of times and then ejects it.
Public KeyDB Disc Submissions
- The MKB_RO.inf file from the original disc is required
- Do not submit Stranger Things
- Place the extracted keydb.cfg file in the same directory as your disc dump files

Re: Rambo: Last Blood can't be read
Ah nuts, yeah good point. My drives can't read the disc at all. The decryption thing I did encounter this past summer with a couple of Stranger Things discs, the discs were read but just couldn't be decrypted and produced a decryption error from MakeMKV. With the Rambo disc the disc drive just ejects the disc after trying to read it a number of times.
