I am new to this forum and ripping. My plan is to move my DVD/BluRay collection onto a jellyfin server on my NAS. Here is what I am looking for.
- Fully assembled, with USB cable and power adapter included.
- Compatible with your 2019 Intel-based Mac.
- Tested with MakeMKV for DVD, standard Blu-ray, and UHD Blu-ray reading.
- No firmware changes required after delivery.
- Warranty, return policy, and total delivered price.
Any help would be appreciated.
Dan

Re: New to Forum and looking to purchase drives
There are several threads here already that explain WHAT and WHERE to buy drives. Is there a reason for starting yet another?

I have several USB models listed here on the forums. See the links my signature, or e-mail me directly at the e-mail address in the signature.
Also, in general, all USB optical drives work equally well with macOS, Linux & Windows. I actually use an old Intel Mac mini for flashing/testing.
Thanks,
Frank

Using an old Intel Mac mini for testing is actually reassuring, especially for someone trying to avoid firmware changes.nicholfd wrote: Sun Oct 25, 2026 2:48 pmHello!ddavis3346 wrote: Sat Oct 24, 2026 8:54 pm I am new to this forum and ripping. Re: New to Forum and looking to purchase drives
As Frank mentioned, nearly any USB optical drive is going to be compatible with Windows, macOS and Linux. I have performed testing on a newer MacBook Pro, a 2013 MBP bootcamped with Windows as well as a Hackintosh (Intel desktop running macOS). MakeMKV works equally well on all three using any of the drives that I sell.
I currently have a few Pioneer slim drives and a Pioneer 5.25” drive available for sale. All have been flashed and fully tested with MakeMKV. If you are interested, please see the links in my signature or send me an email at the address below.
Thanks,
Makar
