The Thing (1982) 4K disc not detected

Hi, just tried to rip The Thing but the disc is not detected by makemkv nor windows. I have ripped over 100 UHD movies successfully so I'm not sure what the problem is. Other discs still work.

You can start by cleaning the disc.

You can start by cleaning the disc.

I already did that. Also I just bought it new so there is no scratches or other defects.

You can start by cleaning the disc.

I already did that. Also I just bought it new so there is no scratches or other defects.

A lot of the time, UHD discs require cleaning because they often have an invisible layer of film on them from the manufacturing process, therefore is very common for brand new discs.

It's possible it is a bad disc. Can you try it in another drive?

Once the disc is seen in windows explorer, you can then open the MakeMKV application.
