Hi Coopervid, I think I got overlooked (or I'm the unwanted stepchild?) in the swarm of recent requests for a flash on this drive. Appreciate the help here. Thanks!

Sorry buddy! The label doesn't count. What counts is what Makemkv is reporting.
Hi again Coopervid,

Thanks for your patience. I think there's an unusual edge case here that may explain the discrepancy.

This thread from last week appears to document essentially the same situation:

viewtopic.php?t=42497

That drive also reported to MakeMKV as HL-DT-ST BP55EB40 revision 1.00, and SDFTool reported MT1959 Platform: NO. After opening it, the mechanism was identified as a Pioneer BDR-UD03TBD HW/FW 1.00, and MartyMcNuts identified it as Pioneer/RS8511 hardware.

Mine likewise reports BP55EB40 1.00 in MakeMKV, SDFTool says MT1959 Platform: NO, but the physical mechanism is labelled Pioneer BDR-UD03TBD HW/FW 1.00.

So I'm reluctant to try LG firmware on it. Could this be the same unusual configuration as that other drive?
Again the label doesn't count.
I got an external reader for the bluray drive and can now report that MakeMKV reports the following:

Drive Information
OS device name: J:
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-UD03D
Revision: 1.00

Hi,

I have a Verbatim 71097 external Blu-ray writer containing a Pioneer BDR-UD03 drive.

My MakeMKV information is:

- Drive: PIONEER BD-RW BDR-UD03
- Firmware revision: 1.14
- Firmware date: 2020-06-15
- Drive platform: RS8511
- Firmware name: PIONEER BDR-US03
- Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
- LibreDrive status: Enabled

Regular Blu-ray movies work correctly in MakeMKV. However, when I insert a 4K UHD Blu-ray movie, MakeMKV reports "No disc inserted."

Could you help me obtain the correct UHD-compatible firmware and flashing instructions for this drive?

I am using Windows.

Thank you!
