MakeMkv Not Updating KeyDB

This has been going on for a while. App settings are correct, but it's not working. Just tried a disc that's been out for quite a while (Hard Target - KL) and it would not rip. This has happened numerous times.

I have discovered a workaround. I can manually update AnyDVD HD by downloading the KeyDB and putting it in the AnyDVD folder, starting that program then closing it. MakeMKV then uses AnyDVD's decrypter and it works. That's not how it's supposed to work.

I suggest the devs put a setting in the app that allows "forcing" an update. Unless there is another suggestion. I'm listening.

MakeMKV does not update the public keyDB.cfg file. MakeMKV can use it but doesn't have anything to do with maintaining it. MakeMKV has it's own internal hashed keys database.

To update the KeyDB.cfg file, you can either manually download it or use SamuriHL's KeyDB Assistant tool to check for updates.

Extract it to your MakeMKV data directory which is where your tgz dumpfiles are created when it can't decrypt a disc.

Thanks for your replies. After swapping some cables, it appears to be a computer issue. I use four computers (one is a Mac not used for disc ripping) and two of them were giving me the problem. I hooked up my drive to a laptop and MakeMKV immediately downloaded the latest HK. Go figure. I thought I had all three set up he same.

I'll try the manual thing on the other two in case I go back to using one of them. Thanks again for the help.
