and yes, eventhough the XD08U firmware is in the "Dreaded End December 2022", i still can rip 4K UHD Discs!!

remember to "Backup" and also "Dump" your current drives, and save on your desktop for easy access, if you ever need to use it.
and DONT unzip the firmware files.. just use that 1 Zipped file if u want to flash the drive.. that's the only "Glaring difference vs the Regular BDRFlash software where u need to copy/drag 2 files over into the flasher.

Ok, but the XD05 has a much older hardware than the XD08U (roundabout 8 years?) so I don't think, there are more advantages / changes than only the designation.

but i did see the option of "Pure Read Functionality now being able"
i might be wrong because i was too trigger happy to just flash it and forgot to check if the older one had that "Pure Read Funtionality Greyed out or highligted"
maybe those who have flashed their xd05 to a xd06u can confirm?

In don't know if the Pure Read function only software or also hardware based. Alone the laser technology is also much older with the XD05.

But that are only thought from someone who uses the drives only for 4k ripping. I don't use the other interesting functions of the Pioneer drives
consciously. Helps they for a smoother ripping?
