Looking for a Pioneer 4K drive

I am embarking on a media-ripping journey and am in need of an external Pioneer disk drive that can rip 4k blu-ray disks, OR one that is capable of being flashed with said functionality. I got a NAS and HDDs already picked out, just need a ripping drive.

I, like many others, am really kicking myself for not embarking on this journey before Pioneer stopped making optical drives because I would LOVE to get my hands on one of the BDR-X13/S13 models.
Beggars can't be choosers so I'll settle for any external Pioneer drive at this point that can handle 4k disks.

Is there anyone here that has any for sale, or can point me in the right direction?

Another question, has there been any recent news/statements regarding Shanxi Lightchain Technology making drives? (I wonder if it's better to wait?)

The web site is poorly hosted & poorly performing. They claim to be Shanxi who purchased Pioneer's optical drive business. I would expect better of a company that was able to financially afford to buy Pioneers optical drive business.

I worked for Sony Japan so I can tell some rules that usually all the big Japanese players in electronics apply/demand if a section get`s taken over. Also there is a huge difference between partnering like Sony did with TCL for the TV section or Pioneer did before sourcing out production to Chinese manufactures. In partnered production the Chinese side gets strictly controlled by Japanese to make sure the quality standard is 100% kept. Also they strictly get no access to any kinds of firmwares or software development at all! Only if all this is accepted the official Japanese company names are put on Made in china electronics!
Here we got the 2nd possible situation tho, a full sell/takeover of the department. In ABSOLUTE NO way Pioneer will allow them to use the old designs or similar names of the drives. There must be a clear difference so the new products can`t be confused with the old originals for reputation purposes!
The business perspective is another important factor to look at. I am no expert for blu-ray drives but price/margin wise I would consider them so called mass/small margin products. To reach the worthy/critical barrier of a full scale new production of drives at this price level I would think something between 30.000 to 50.000 pieces per one model are the minimum. If there still would be a demand like that Pioneer would have never stopped making them in the 1st place.

So what I can see on that page is very suspicious.

But www.sxosi.com, which as far I know seemed to be "the real deal" before www.pezyotta.com replaced it, *was* registered in 2023 and was already showing the names for the new drives, including the BDR-XS09CMB-S.

Personally, I choose to believe this is genuine until disproven.

All models have a "C" in their model name, so that may indicate that these drives will be available only on the Chinese market, if they become available outside of internal channels at all.

I emailed the company over the weekend to ask whether they are planning distribution in the EU, but so far I haven't received any response. We'll have to wait and see what happens next.

The fact that they are clearly marketing them as "UHD-compatible drives" and that they have an English webpage at all makes me feel a bit hopeful...
