MakeMKV new version v2.0.0 (20.9.2026)

I seem to be having a problem opening a blu-ray disc up on this version. It tries to open disc but then hangs/crashes.

Ok, I had some weirdness on my Mac Mini.. I'm running MacOS 27.2 Beta. With 1.8, I can see the Blu-Ray drive just fine. When I installed 2.0, I could not.

And a number of apps crashed. (firefox, Brave got "stuck", etc..) Makemkv also wanted me to enable application management, something 1.8 doesn't.

Anyone else seeing "issues"?? I removed it from my Mac. I'll stick with 1.8 for now.

MacOS is vary particular about versions. Have you specifically enabled 2.0.0 to run? Otherwise, it will consider it a danger to your system, and refuse it.

I have the same issue on linux compiling it myself... 1.18.4 works fine but 2.0.0 crashes when trying to open the disc or files...

EDIT : The issue seems to come from the main makemkvcon binary, not the GUI.

Looks like it's fine here. BD's and DVD's works fine. MakeMKV-2.0.0 (Linux) from sources.

It doesn't work for me with an Ubuntu-based distro. Same with my Arch distrobox.

I'll carry on using 1.18.4 for the time being until the issues resolved.
