It doesn't need flashing. It is UHD compatible as is. The only reason to flash it, would be to remove the sleep bug, which isn't really necessary anyway. If you want to flash it, use WH16NS60 1.02-MK.
It would appear that I was being a colossally absent-minded person by forgetting to check the latest LibreDrive compatibility list. Thank you, and my apologies.
BH16NS55 1.02 was one of the original drive firmwares that are UHD friendly out of the box. My first UHD capable drive was a BH16NS55 on it's original v1.02 firmware purchased at the end of 2017! I still have that drive too (along with an original WH16NS60), just put away as I now only use my Pioneer drives.
Cheers :D

I said "latest LibreDrive list" not because I believed support was recently added, but simply because I forgot to check the list altogether. I added "latest" just as a way of wording it.

...Not to mention, I read a lot and am usually pretty good at finding the right information, and I've seen a decent amount of optical drives in my life, but I have less experience than people who have probably "worked" on 100+ drives. I also probably wouldn't be able to fully memorize that LibreDrive list.

Thank you! This made it really easy to get my drive to recognize 4k discs

I was able to successfully flash my drive (BU40N) to 1.03MK and everything works. However, I received an error at the end, but I clicked too quickly and did not save it, and the Firmware_Dumps were not created. If I need to revert to 1.05 for any reason, should I just reflash using the official files from the LG website?

You could, but please be aware that several people have had issues with those official LG flashers.

You will also be unable to extract the 1.05 firmware from the official LG flasher (it won't work if you do a firmware dump of a BU40N with 1.05 firmware, either) : the 1.05 firmware is encrypted.

That's not good to hear. Well, I'll worry about that if I need to send the drive in for a warranty repair. Fingers crossed I won't have to.

Is there any reason RECOVER flashes use the nowait parameter? It shouldn't be required and I've had a few people come to me with failed flashes because they disconnected their drive before it was done since nowait doesn't wait for it to be finished.

Could you please copy your Drive Information and LibreDrive Information in MakeMKV and post it here ? (feel free to omit the serial number part if you wish)

i may have figured it out. but for a while it was telling me that it was patched but whenever i put in backrooms or mario galaxy 4K discs, the disc would stop spinning, it'd tell me no errors at all, and say there's no disc. i think the problem was there wasn't enough power going into the drive maybe

Only use ports direct from the motherboard (not case ports) or an AC self-powered USB hub of at least 24w.

Also, insert the UHD disc and let the OS initialise it before opening up MakeMKV.
