ok since it seems like the admin is not talking to anyone posting on this forum, it just leads me to think, that the time of makemkv is over, just like anydvd and the owner that took all the money and ran for the hills, since makemkv is now in the spotlight with all of the game console bs thanks to a female ceo of a certain game console.

my final thought is simple

if buying is not owning, then piracy is not stealing.

Hi everyone. I don't really get why some people here are panicking. If you look back at the last few years, the website has been offline quite a few times. After all, this is a privately run project and not a huge corporation. Because of that, we should all just be patient. I only bought my license last year and had to wait for weeks until the website came back online. But the wait was definitely worth it. It’s not fair to permanently use the beta key, and honestly, it gets annoying after a while. We should all be grateful that this website and service even exist and that someone is putting in the effort. So, let's just have a little more patience—everything will be fine.

first: i have a permanent key, and have had it for decades. second: i was there when people were using anydvd on a permanent license and the forum operators and owner said it was going to be ok, they ran with the money and opened another company that failed in a short number of years later. third: since you mention this is a private company and we should be patient, whatever happened to the customer is number one and always right. i am just asking for some transparency in a course of action for this program. it seems that no one is in the drivers seat. and i am not mad about the website being down. i am upset over a pattern of irregular activity that affects more people than just the people on this forum or using this program. those who do not know history, are doomed to repeat it. i have a problem with people who sell something and then use the law to change the rules and say i am taking that back and you are not getting a refund, and if you object i will keep you in court until after you are dead. so my attitude is simple fafo.

thank you for informing me of that information. like i said the pattern is very similar between anydvd and makemkv. pure speculation of course, at least something to keep a eye on.

The owner of AnyDVD didn't "take the money and run, and then opened another company." SlyFox was shutdown by the authorities. It was the company's employees that stepped up and brought AnyDVD back to life as RedFox. Any statement about what happened to them years later is pure speculation. As someone bought both SlyFox and RedFox lifetime licenses (for several products), I was glad they were there. I feel I got my money's worth, and I hope those involved are doing well.

Seconded - it is quite unreasonable to blame the staff for the actions of "outsiders", and anyone who purchased a lifetime key (I did for GameJackal with SlySoft and for AnyDVD-HD with RedFox, just before their shutdown) can still use the software (though future key updates for AnyDVD-HD are out, unless someone's devised a way to use KeyDB). As would be the case with MakeMKV.

Good luck trying the same stunt with anything from DVDFab/StreamFab or similar which requires online activation...

AnyDVD still works fine for DVDs and 4K (the latter does use KeyDB). It's only Blu-ray that it has issues with (unless it already has the key). But I've mostly switched to other software.
