I'm really frustrated with my Blu-ray rip success rate. About 50% of my rip attempts fail mid-process, and I can't figure out why. When a rip completes successfully, Plex plays the file perfectly with no issues. But roughly half the time, the rip process just fails partway through and I get no output file. When I re-attempt it often fails at the same place on the disc or very close.
I attached a screenshot of typical output when a failure occurs.
I've tried cleaning the discs and re-attempting, but it rarely has an effect —sometimes multiple discs from the same package fail, sometimes they work. Does anyone have any workarounds or suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Blu-ray failure rate frustrations. Help!
Re: Blu-ray failure rate frustrations. Help!
Can't see your screenshot (which is expected when posted as an attachment), but usually it's either due to an "aging" / "aged" drive or insufficient power.
For the latter try to connect the enclosure / adapter to a USB-C port (through a C-A adapter when necessary) if any is available, if you don't want to get a powered hub or so.

Your issue is also a known issue for some people who try to rip some UHD discs : viewtopic.php?f=12&t=20853
I agree with tomty89's advice about the amount of power, it can get rid of the issue most of the time, but some discs are just nasty enough that you may also need "the right drive", not just the right amount of power (I would be ready to bet that switching to a Pioneer drive usually solves the issue if it persists after providing the LG drive with more power).

Try using the backup option rather than just ripping to MKV. Then create your MKV from the ripped backup.whoopsydaisy wrote: Tue Aug 11, 2026 8:54 pm I'm really frustrated with my Blu-ray rip success rate.
