Been going through my box set and cannot rip Season 2 Disc 2, I keep getting a decryption error. Any ideas why this is happening on just this disc? With the exception of this disc I have thus far successfully ripped all of Season 1, all other discs from Season 2 and all of Season 3. Have yet to start Seasons 4 and 5.

I used ImgBurn to successfully create an iso from the Season 2 disc 2 and then tried MakeMKV on that iso but no luck trying that work around.

Suggestions?

My version is v1.18.3 for Windows. Using a Pioneer BDR-XS07U

I just encountered a 2nd disc with the same issue, Season Four - Disc 15 - Chapters Five & Six.

Yes, they're not encrypted. This has been established in several threads already. Backup to folder, delete the AACS directory, and it'll open just fine in MakeMKV.

(This is only true for certain discs)

I am having the same issue with Season 2 Disk 6, Season 4 Disk 3, Season 5 Disk 21.
The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted

All other disks were fine. Sent Dump Files to support, but as of yet, no movement. It seems to stick at some the 000x.m2ts files then gives up with this error message.

Is it a manufacturing issue, disk issue, or decryption key issue?

I have tried 3 different LG Drives, and 2 different Pioneer Drives.

Thanks for the reply. Interesting. So are you saying to literally copy the contents from the disc to hard drive, say with Windows File Explorer and essentially ignore/do not copy the AACS directory then point MakeMKV to that copied folder structure?

Sure or use the MakeMKV Backup function and make sure it's set NOT to decrypt. Then just delete/rename the AACS directory on the folder backup. That's a better way to do it as it does error checking while copying.

As I wasn't sure of the best method, while waiting, rather than do a File Explorer copy (as using MakeMKV and not choosing to decrypt didn't even occur to me) what I had done was take my ISO that I created yesterday for my Season 2 disc using IMGBurn then mounted it, copied just the Certificate and BDMV folders out then created another a fresh ISO from that then used MakeMKV to do the rip and it worked just fine.

I'll simply use MakeMKV without decrypting for my Season 4 disc as you describe, fewer steps and more straight forward.

When I get a minute I need to test those discs with my KeyDB Assistant. In theory, it should detect that they're not AACS encrypted and warn you when you do a Disc Info function. I haven't yet ripped my set but will be doing so this week and when I get to those discs I'll see if the detection works.
