Hi everyone,
I’m hoping someone can help me figure out why my drive still won’t read UHD Blu-ray discs after flashing.
The drive works perfectly with standard Blu-ray discs. I can rip regular Blu-rays in MakeMKV without any issues. The only problem is with 4K UHD discs.
Drive information:
* Manufacturer: HP
* Model: HLDS BU40N
* Firmware Revision: BW42
* Platform: MT1959
MakeMKV: v1.18.4
I purchased the drive in this enclosure:
JOYIN-BURN 9.5mm Tray-Loading USB Blu-ray Drive (Amazon ASIN: B0CS3MY2DG).
I used the latest SDFTool Flasher and the “All You Need Firmware Pack.” I manually selected DE_LG_BU40N_1.03_MK.bin, and the flash completed successfully without any errors.
However, MakeMKV still reports:
LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible (with patched firmware)
Firmware support: No
Firmware type: Original (patched version available)
Firmware version: 0.BW42P
When I insert a 4K UHD disc, I receive the following error:
LibreDrive compatible drive is required to open this disc.
Since standard Blu-rays work perfectly, I’m wondering if my HP BW42 drive requires a different firmware or cross-flash procedure, or if there’s something I should verify before attempting to flash it again.
I’d appreciate any advice. Thanks!
