I recall having to make an encrypted copy of Arrow Video's release of "City on Fire" (uncheck the decrypt box), deleting the AACS folder from the backup, and then running MakeMKV. Turns out the program gets stumped by discs with no encryption. I don't have a copy of this to try myself.

Just noting the same issue with a Pioneer BD-RW BDR-XD08U - stalls in exactly the same spot (654.1MB) shown in the earlier posted screenshot

I thought I was going crazy too - mine aren't completing on either of my LG drives either.

I am trying this right now... In the middle of copying the files... it will be about an hour or so, but once it completes I will post back.

I used an ASUS and a LG drive and was able to make a backup of both discs but ran into the same issue of the AV de-sync and then it hanging at 600-something MB when trying to create the MKV from the decrypted backup I created

I stand corrected... this is working! It did stall at the 654.1, and then all of sudden continued to rip!!!!! I will report back if it completes. But is really moving right now!!!

I'm having the same issues - locked up on both discs. Currently just backing up the entire disc and I'll try to rip from the backup. Has anyone been successful with that process?

Of course now I am getting the notice: "Program reads data faster than it can write to disk, consider upgrading your hard drive if you see many of these messages."

But it working!!!!

I am doing this right now... it stuck on the 651.4 M for a few seconds, and then blew past it... almost done ripping disc one right now.

It works if you save to a hard drive via back up and make sure to deselect the encryption. Watching disc one right now.

Only issue I see, is the disc is showing 73.2 GB, however the rip is showing 69.22 GB. Don't know why the difference.

Going to do disc two next.

Awesome - okay - I still have another 30 or so minutes before my backups are done. So I'll see what happens then. If it works it should be quick after that. fingers crossed!

Can you elaborate more - what do you mean by deselect the encryption? like - Don't decrypt it when you back it up? or DO decrypt it during backup? or some other step?

I did it slightly differently and in the end did not end up using MakeMKV for this. I have the CE but I doubt it makes any difference.

Ripped both discs to protected ISO
Mounted them (I use ImgDrive, use whatever you want) both
Make sure XReveal is loaded for this one
Open MKV Toolnix
Add 00001.m2ts from disc one, select what you wanna keep
Right click on 00001.m2ts in the file selection box, select add, then add 00002.m2ts from disc two
Verify what you want is selected
Write the combined MKV which is what everyone wants anyway
Enjoy

Both finally worked. I backed up - then made mkv from the backup. Both still got "hung" early on for the AV sync issues but then it just brute forced it's way past after a minute or two and completed. Just wanted to update folks that it was successful for me doing this method.

Can confirm, let it sit for 4 or 5 minutes and then it ended up making progress. I skipped through it and didn't notice any sync issues so seems like once it figures it out it is able to create the MKV without any issue
