Asus SBW-06D5H-U cant read GameCube Discs

Post by gabriel4227495 »

Hallo together,

I was happy to find out about Omnidrive, MakeMKV and MPF. So i bought an SBW-06D5H-U (Build Dec. 25) to dump my Gamcube Discs and play them on my Laptop.

But... in the moment the redumper window from MPF opens, it allready closes. When i try to dump a PC Game like Ace Combat 6 it works.
Then i tryed to open the redumper from consol, with a GC Disc -> Error: No Disc found

I have checkt the Platform -> MT1959, then i flashed it to BU40N 1.03Mk to lift the encryption and flashed to HL-DT...BU40N Omnidrive Firmeware.
But for some reason i cant dump GC Discs with MPF, i tryed Mystic Heros; Rogue Leader, 1080 Avalanche...

I'm under the impression omnidrive only works on de Fw not mk
But I have seen people not able to downgrade that Asus to 1.00
But I don't have one in person to test.

More like OmniDrive is a patched firmware based on a stock firmware. (It is not "MK". AFAIK it's not even "DE". It's just "old enough" to be LibreDrive -- which pretty much has nothing to do with your interest here.) The fact that you see 1.03 and "Patched" in LibreDrive information pretty much means the flashing of the OmniDrive firmware didn't get through. Otherwise you should see 1.00 and "Original". ("Patched" here is a synonym of "MK", meaning the firmware has modification from mike / the MakeMKV team.)

Ah. This already helps me. The flashing process went through without any message.
The shown version looked curious to me, but let's face it, I have no clue about that.
So I thought, maybe it just doesn't override the name.
I will try some other older firmware, maybe it will step down from them.
Thank you.

Your drive is on BU40N 1.03-MK. You need to flash it with the particular omnidrive version of BU40N 1.00.
Cheers :D

I got it to work with the help of your tip.

SDF 1.3.5 and 1.3.6 were not able to downgrade to 1.02 or any other version from the MK firmware pack, despite it showing "success".
When I looked for the firmware, I saw that you made a modified Asus FW Changer, and it was able to downgrade to 1.02 or 1.00, but refused to use the Omnidrive FW. I retried it with SDF 1.3.6, but there was still no change.

Then I searched for an older version of SDF, and with version 1.2.0 I was able to flash the Omnidrive FW.
I don't know what it ignores or does differently, but it may help other people. Probably it works directly with SDF 1.2.0.

So thanks a lot for the tip and the things you have posted in the past.
