Verbatim 43888 (LG BU40N) to Omnidrive

Post by Pedalritter »

Hello,
I want to flash a Verbatim 43888 (LG BU40N) with firmware version 1.05 (encrypted) to the OmniDrive firmware.

If I’ve read this forum correctly, I first need to flash the drive with the firmware “DE_LG_BU40N_1.03_MK.bin” from the “From the All You Need Firmware Pack (MartyMcNuts)”, and then flash it with OmniDrive.

Flashing is done exclusively with the SDFtool Flasher.
Is all of this correct?

Thank you and best regards.

That’s exactly how I understand it as well. You need to switch to the "DE_LG_BU40N_1.03_MK.bin" firmware to replace the encrypted V1.05 firmware. After that, you can flash the OmniDrive firmware directly.

Let me know once everything has worked.

Perfect! I was a bit confused at first too, but this post helped me.

Okay, again:

"If your external Buffalo / Archgon / LG BU40N has encrypted firmware, flash BU40N 1.03-MK first, then you can either leave it as is or flash BU40N 1.00 or Buffalo BU / BN firmware if you want to."

I don't see the BU40N 1.03-MK in the all you need firmware pack, only the stock firmware: HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-1.03-NM00000-211810241934.bin
These are one and the same. If it has "NM" in it then it is the MK firmware and it is easier to say MK than NM00000-21.....
