Pioneer UD04FAL

Hello everyone,

I have an UD04FAL drive that I intend to use for archival purposes. I'm currently looking for a newer firmware version, as my unit is running 1.21/ID19.
Does anyone have a newer firmware ? I could not find anything on pioneer site.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The general recommendation is to leave the firmware alone.

If you find the new firmware please contact Billycarr11. Need that firmware to enable UHD for UD03. I've turned over every stone possible on the internet and yet to find the newest UD04 firmware. Did the UD04 come bare or did it come in a enclosed case? If in a enclosed case what brand is it?

It came bare but I'm use it with a generic sata slim to usb2.0 with y cable for extra juice.
Have not use it for ripping only for burning some blanks.
It behaved well on verbatim bd-re and ritek br2 but not so much on verbatim mdisc.
That is why I was looking for a newer firmware maybe with a better write strategy.

Yeah trying to find the UD04 new firmware is like trying to find a Unicorn in the wild. There was site that did have the new firmware but the link no longer works. Hopefully someone might have it and share it here.

So it sounds like you have bumped into a UD03 with 12/22+ firmware? What's the firmware version?

No, while Billycarr11 was helping me to unlock my 2022/22+ BDR-XD05W for UHD I happened to find the XD06 2022/22+ firmware to do so. At that time we were hoping to find the UD03/UD04 2022/22+ firmware but no luck. If I remember right there was member here that has the 12/22+ firmware on their UD03. The site is slow right now so its making it hard to find the forum it was on.

Looks like so far from what I have found both UD03/UD04 have the same firmware rev. 1.14 2020-06-15. So Maybe the 12/22+ might have a rev. 1.15?
