Has anybody else been able to rip this? I get a bunch of AV sync issues and it just gets stuck at Output Size: 536.0 M. I've let it run for over an hour each time and it doesn't go anywhere. Never seen this happen before.

I can't get it to rip too. I've tried both drives I own. Gets about 1/10th done and will keep going with no progress for nearly an hour before I close it.

I was able to get this ripped. I was experiencing the same issue where it stopped (for me) ad 581MB ripped for the main title on the UHD disc.

What worked for me was to run a backup on the disc. Once that was done, the behavior repeated when I tried to rip the main title from the backup. However, after maybe 3-5 minutes, it continued ripping and completed without difficulty. The resulting MKV looks good, not seeing any issues.

Hope this helps.

Drive is BD-RE PIONEER BD-RW BDR-S12JX 1.01 if it matters.

How were you able to "back up" the disc? I don't see any option to do a full-disc backup in MakeMKV (I'm on Linux).

Just an FYI, based on what you said I figured maybe it worked after the dump because reading from a HDD/SDD is a lot faster than reading from a disc. Based on that hunch, I gave a rip of the movie direct from disc another shot. Last time I let it go about 1h10min before realizing it was stuck and stopped it. If only I'd let it go another 10 minutes haha.. at about 1h20min the disc started ripping beyond that 581MB spot that it was "stuck". It was slower ripping, but kept going. The disc did end up fully ripping successfully. It just took a long time: 4h40min to be exact. But it worked, so moving on!

That makes perfect sense. As for backing it up, when you first mount the disc in MakeMKV (NOT read it), you should have an icon at the top that's a folder with a green arrow. That's the backup option.

Just hopped on here to see if I was alone on this, got a bad copy, glad/sad to find out that's not the case! I got stuck at the 536MB same as everyone, so I switched to some other discs, and popped this one in before I went to bed. Currently at about 95% on my pioneer 6 and a half hours later. Keeps getting stuck, but at this point it's far enough along and I'm far enough in that I'll just let it finish (hopefully!). Once it's done, I'm very curious to see how it actually plays. Gonna pop it into the PS5 and see if it's readable in an actual player. Otherwise, Lionsgate has some 'splaining to do!

Hopefully this isn't some shitty new form of structural copy protection. That never goes well.

Edit: 7 hours start to finish.

Had the same issue. Ended up backing up the disc. Spot checking the mkv rip the audio is out of sync on my Ugreen NAS player. I'm guessing Lionsgate did something intentionally to mess up the audio on rips.

Update: I think this an issue with the inclusion of a multiple audio tracks that might have issues with their timecodes. The issue will happen during the makemkv process somewhere between 531M and 581M based on the audio tracks selected. I tried just grabbing the TrueHD Atmos track and the issue still occurred. There is an issue with the authoring of the disc but still unknown if it was intentionally done but we know the measures that Lionsgate has gone to in the past to prevent their titles from being ripped to different mediums. When I was having issues spot checking with my NAS player the sync issue seemed to correct itself after 20-30s of playing but it would return if you skipped around.

I would strongly suggest not letting your player try to rip the disc for multiple hours. Just do the backup method and then open the backup to make your mkv from that. The backup process had no issues like going straight to mkv but it will encounter the slowdowns on the actually makemkv process. Those slowdowns work through much faster from the backup but it still took about 25-30 minutes using my Ugreen NAS with a docker makemkv on a backup from a SSD. Those typically only take about 10 minutes or so on non-problematic encodes.
