Failed to open Disc - video can't be decrypted

#1 Post by reetreefree » Sat Apr 04, 2026 3:46 am

Hi all,

I saw that apparently there is a way to store keydb_eng in order to be used with MakeMKV. I tried opening Bugonia and it still gives me:

"The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted
Failed to open disc"

I tried downloading and placing the unzipped keydb.eng within MakeMKV, but still haven't been able to open the disc. Does anyone know where to put the request for this Blu-Ray to be used?

Did MakeMKV create a TGZ file for this disk? And if so, could you upload it into (say) OneDrive or Google Drive please, and then reply with a public download link? You should also email that file to svq@makemkv.com, for the sake of MakeMKV's own "hashed keys" database.

Perhaps someone has already submitted this maybe. I just changed my MakeMKV to use the latest keydb_eng and now it seems that it is able to access the content from the disc.
