BU40N + Silverstone TS14B enclosure, drive eject button won’t work but works with different enclosure

I used to the included USB cable, plugged each USB-a connector into my macbook but it won't eject using the eject button on the BU40N. If I use a 3.5" external hdd usb2.0 enclosure the eject button works fine but the reason I wanted the TS14B so it's a neat enclosure to protect the drive inside of instead of having a mess of cables. Is this normal behavior for the TS14B and BU40N or do I have a defective unit/cable/improper power from my computer?

Sounds like not enough power from your macbook?

Can you confirm that with your BU40N in the TS14B, you can rip discs OK?
