Pioneer & LG external 5.25" USB drives for sale - already 4K UHD crossflashed & tested

[skyrider]

I'll periodically update this post so that it always reflects the current number of available drives.
Last updated - October 28, 2026

There are only 5 drives left.

Hello everyone,
I'd like to offer you ASUS 5.25" BW-12D1S-U, BW-16D1H-U Pro & BW-16D1X-U external Blu‑ray drives for sale.
The drives are generally in perfect condition and mostly come as complete factory sets.
There may be slight scratches on the piano‑black surfaces, but that stuff scratches just from looking at it.

The only difference between the three models is the box size and the included accessories.
Contents of the BW-16D1H-U Pro set: drive, power supply, power cable, USB cable, stand, documentation, software disc, and even a carrying bag.
Asus BW‑16D1X‑U includes the same items, just without the stand and the bag.
The BW-12D1S-U comes with the same accessories as the BW-16D1H-U, except for the bag.

The above models are no longer available for purchase as new.
Stores still have the last remaining units of the BW-16D1X-U model, which currently uses an LG drive.
These are no longer as reliable, both in writing and reading, as units equipped with Pioneer drives.
Unfortunately, no more units with Pioneer drives will be produced, as Pioneer has discontinued manufacturing these devices.

Current inventory:

Asus BW-12D1S-U w. Pioneer BDR-209 [RS8600] @ BDR‑211UBK 1.53 [RS8800] - mfd. November 2015 - €400 ($450) [original box, full factory set]
Asus BW-12D1S-U w. Pioneer BDR-209 [RS8600] @ BDR‑211UBK 1.53 [RS8800] - mfd. October 2016 - €400 ($450) [original box, full factory set]
Asus BW-16D1H-U Pro w. Pioneer BDR-209 [RS8601] @ BDR‑211UBK 1.53 [RS8801] - mfd. November 2018 - €400 ($450) [original box, missing bag]

Asus BW-16D1X-U @ HL-DT-ST BD-RE WH16NS60 1.02 - mfd. October 2025 - €300 ($335) [brand new]
Asus BW-16D1X-U @ HL-DT-ST BD-RE WH16NS60 1.02 - mfd. October 2025 - €300 ($335) [brand new]

(Please note: the dates I provide are the actual manufacturing dates of the drives, not the dates when Asus assembled them into their enclosures.)

All drives have been crossflashed by me with firmware, which enables ripping 4K UHD Blu-ray discs.

I can send photos of the individual drives upon request.

I ship from Poland within one business day via DHL within the EU (shipping cost: €15) and accept PayPal payments, as well as bank transfers.
Regarding questions about shipping to the USA, I can offer UPS shipping for $35.
You can return the drive within 14 days if you are not satisfied or if you changed your mind.

Contact me via email: darnowski(at)o2.pl or send me a PM.

Hi,
I’m interested with a ASUS BW-16D1H-U PRO : can I choose a specific drive in your inventory and have some photos ?

Is there an active warranty with Asus for these drives ? Are they reliable over time ?

I can’t send PM for the moment.

Thank you in advance !

I wanted to leave a comment regarding the purchase of a ASUS BW-16D1H-U PRO drive : I had very good communication throughout the entire process, from the purchase to the delivery, which was completed yesterday. The package was very well packed, and I received it in the same condition as shown in the photo before shipping. The drive works very well, but I find it noisier compared to my previous internal drives.
Everything was fine.

I'm adding one Pioneer BDR‑X13EBK drive to the list of available drives with factory firmware post 12/2022, which means I'm unable to crossflash it.
If you're able to get a fair crossflash price from Billycar11, this offer is perfect for you.

Hi all,

Just wanted to share my experience with Skyrider. It was the most trust-based deal I have ever made with someone I had never known or met before. Skyrider packed and posted the package before the money even reached his bank account (which took 2 business days in my case).
We had excellent communication, and everything went smoothly, with plenty of descriptions and pictures of the unit provided.

I ordered a BW-16D1X-U on May 28th and received it today, perfectly packed via DHL/Cargus. The unit is exactly as shown in the pictures and in excellent condition, with only very minor signs of use.

I can't comment on ripping because I'm not into that, but testing it with a Verbatim M-DISC blank, the writing was stable and with very low scan errors.

In short, a highly recommended seller!

Regards,

Cristian

I have today received my Asus BW-16D1X-U with a Pioneer BDR-212 drive and I can only concur to what has already been written here. Thanks Skyrider for the fast responses and detailed pictures of the drive. Everything well received and works perfectly.

Hello, Im very new to the field on these drives, do you still have the bw16d1h pro for sale? I am looking to backup my Blu-ray, and uhd Blu-ray collection to 1:1 digital copies for a in home media server Im putting together. Ive been all over and back on here trying to figure out what model is best for this. I don't have a huge collection of discs, maybe 120 total. would prob pick up a few more discs as some titles came across on a deal. But I would like to purchase a model that is solid for what I need. I wasnt able to contact you other than making a post. Thanks so much.
