Inventory updated in 1st post - only 1 drive remaining on hand. More on order, but shipping pushed out & prices have increased.

Adding this here, in case this funny question comes up anywhere else. This is from someone who purchased a drive from me this morning, and sent this message this evening:
Could you please refund my purchase, I’m not certain if these drives are legal in my state?
(their state is MA).

My reply:
I’m glad to refund your purchase - I was just about to print the shipping label.

Optical drives are not and cannot be illegal in any state. They read discs & are readily available for purchase in every state. There are no legal challenges I have *ever* heard of, anywhere, globally. Do you have a link to whatever makes you concerned they might be illegal someplace?

I haven't seen any new, bare, internal drives available for a long time.

The internal drive in this model & the Buffalo model I have for sale, are standard 5 1/4" internal SATA drives. Remove two screws from the outside of the USB chassis, and the chassis snaps apart. Remove 3 or 4 screws from the drive, inside the opened chassis, and unplug the drive. The drive can then be removed & used in any PC case that supports a standard 5 1/4" drive.

Thanks,
Frank
