Wouldn't it be better to try, than asking?
I did and it failed. I got Billycar’s flash for the drive, i did it but then it didn’t rip the uhd movie.
It's a good idea to always include relevant info (flashed it. tried UHD. failed.) in the original post...

"It failed" - error message or log? What happened? Post that relevant info also.

i already told you what was wrong your drive was not getting enough power and was rebooting no reason to say my stuff does not work
They e-mailed me directly with a screenshot & the output from an attempted rip. Here's my reply:
Your drive can definitely read 4K/UHD discs or you would not have been able to get to the screen to choose titles & start the rip - the flash worked.

You need to do some reading/research on MakeMKV & how to use it - you do not want 13 titles from a movie disc of any type. You only rip the main title, which is the movie. *Maybe* there are some “out-takes” or whatever that you want, but I doubt there are 12 of those on that John Wick disc.

Your results are due to one of two things, 1st most likely:
1. Your drive disconnected during the rip (faulty/flakey USB cable) or you don’t have enough power to the drive for 4K/UHD discs (which causes the drive to power-cycle/disconnect temporarily). For slim-line drives they either require 2 x USB connections for enough power (“Y” USB cable), or an external AC adapter if the unit supports that. If you have 2 x USB connections or are using a USB adapter, try a different USB port on the computer. Some desktop PCs have crappy USB chipsets on some ports as a cost saving measure.

2. You have a defective or dirty discs. I have seen brand new discs purchase from Amazon that were either defective or fake. I have also had new discs that looked perfectly clean from a fresh unwrapped case, that needed to be cleaned. I suspect some of the plastics used in packaging “gas off”, producing a vapor & it leaves a difficult to see coating on the disc. Take a whiff of a new, freshly un-shrink wrapped DVD/Blu-Ray/4K/UHD.

When you figure out which is the cause, please post on the forums so others can learn from your experience & know that you got a good flash kit/upgrade from Billycar11.
Thanks,
Frank
