Nice, thank you.
I get about the same speed in avisynth when I use:
SetFilterMTMode("DoViBaker",2)
Prefetch(8)
Good to know! The port is now officially public: https://github.com/bbeny123/felbaker

It offers two modes, but I highly recommend the mode utilizing VapourSynth's built-in resizers—it’s faster and more accurate than the internal Spline16 (DoViBaker-compatible, simplified) mode.

You can find example .vpy scripts in the README. Let me know how it performs on your end!

I don’t know whether L9 has any effect at playback, but I suspect it doesn’t. I’ve seen some Web-DLs (Amazon, I think) with dynamic L9, and Metafier flags it as invalid.
I don’t think the choice of MDP really matters here, but we could generate a test sample that alternates between P3 and BT.2020 to check whether there is any visible difference in practice.
I don't really understand the Dolby documentation on what L9 is actually supposed to do, so I’m not sure how to interpret it. Maybe @quietvoid has more insight on this.
I’ll try to test this over the weekend, though I’m not sure if varying L9 values within a single file is strictly allowed by the spec.
Finally managed to find the time to run the tests.

Setup: Ugoos AM6B+ (p3i T2a) + SONY A95L

I tested both scenarios:
  • A single file with dynamic L9 (P3 -> BT.2020 -> no L9).
  • Three separate files with fixed L9 values for each (P3, BT.2020, no L9).
Result: I couldn't spot any visible differences in color or brightness in any of the tests. It seems L9 has no effect on playback, at least on this specific hardware combination.

@RESET9999

Should I set "Force colour subsampling" to 4:2:2 on the Ugoos instead of Auto? If I do so and check the HDMI diagnostics screen on my tv (lg c9), then it says 422 8 bit instead of 12 bit. Even if I try to set "Force display colour depth" to 12 bit it still says 8 bit. Could you check what it shows on your lg g1 and g5?

Yeah so same as mine.
Does this mean the hdmi diagnostics of the tv is incorrect or the ugoos can only output 8 bit at 422?
Should I keep it on auto or 422 then?

you should use auto 444 12bit. There might be a bug with the 422 output and you should ask avdvplus about it since i know he made some changes about 422 in his build.

This isn't true. 422 12 bit works just fine. I don't care what the LG claims.

This is why having a VRROOM is useful.

Yeah, if the HDFury device reports 12-bit, I trust that more than LG’s reporting.
On my end, CEC no longer works when I put my Vertex in the signal chain, so I don’t use it in my main home theater. I only keep one in my capture and testing rig.
In any case, 422 doesn’t really matter to me since I only watch DV using RGB tunneling.

I use it specifically to block CEC LOL I can't stand that nonsense as it doesn't work right half the time. As for 422, I agree as I use my HTPC for non-DV stuff most of the time, but it's been a discussion on multiple forums now so I figured I'd take a look.

Is there a way to send him a pm? The Issues tab on github seems kinda dead so not sure if posting there will get his attention.

The issues tab is not dead. He responds kindly to everything.
Try to raise an issue here : https://github.com/avdvplus/Builds/issues
