Hey all. I'm fairly new to ripping my blurays and dvds. Only done a few so far until my drive failed.
Recently got a new one, but it brought up a conversation from my partner. Why spend the time to rip from a disc. And then encode the parts you want. Which takes me perhaps a good half day per disc. (In my free time from work) Vs just download a copy from torrents and the like. Which with internet speed as it is, takes less than half hour.
Personally, I like the idea that these files are mine. I know exactly what quality they are at and what the contents are.
I've downloaded things in the past, but I have always tried to get a physical copy as well.
I thought I would ask people here. What makes you go through the hassle of ripping Vs just downloading it.
Ripping Vs downloading
Re: Ripping Vs downloading
Are there any legal download sites? The existence of AACS and bus encryption would seem to suggest "not"
I buy disks legally. Ripping them is merely how I choose to play them in the privacy of my own home.

If you purchased and received a license for MakeMKV but are having trouble, it is often the case that when one tries to copy & paste the key into MakeMKV either the computer unhelpfully adds a space at the end of the key or the first or last character is accidentally not copied.dichisitu343 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 29, 2026 1:31 ami know is not for this post but please help me becouse i send mesage for help to register the product makemkv.

If you purchased a key but did not receive it, first check your junk mail. If the email still isn't found, open a support ticket with the payment provider, PayPro Global.
