The 4K rip provided by makemkv (v1.18.3) gives me a completely green screen when trying to play it. Audio is OK.

I play my movies using one of the USB ports with an OPPO UDP-203.

Playing the disc directly in the OPPO works without issue.

I've never had a green screen through USB with the OPPO before the Red Planet 4K Arrow source. I checked the HDMI cable to my Sony TV, and it was OK.

The mkv file plays fine on my PC with MPC-BE and VLC. But it doesn't play properly through my OPPO.

Using makemkv, I created a decrypted backup first from the Arrow 4K disc, and then ripped the backup to mkv files. No errors were reported in either process. But the movie ripped to mkv generated a green screen.

Playing the decrypted backup through the OPPO's USB port plays fine.

From the backup, I checked the 00001.m2ts file with MediaInfo, and it reported TWO video streams: 4K and 1080p. Only one stream showed up in makemkv. Huh?

I played the 00001.m2ts file directly with VLC, and selected the 1080p video stream.

Guess what I got? A green screen. Hmmm.

The mkv file shows no sign of it even containing the 1080p stream.

So I decided to bypass makemkv (except for extracting the Chapters to a separate file from the defective mkv using MKVToolNix).

Using MKVToolNix, I cleared all input sources, and then dropped in the 00001.m2ts file, and added the Chapters.mks file.

I deselected the 1080p video stream and mulitplexed the output to mkv.

It played perfectly through my OPPO. No green screen.

Does anyone have an explanation why the makemkv rip gave me a green screen?
