Just got a verbatim slim drive that is a pioneer drive inside. Do I still need a special pioneer flasher to update this?
I was looking at the flasher guide, but doesn't seem to cover these drives. Maybe I'm missing something.

If you download the latest SDF.bin, then you should be able to enable LibreDrive however, it still cannot read UHD discs or be cross-flashed at this point in time.
Cheers :D

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to flash my Pioneer BD-RW BDR-S09 drive (firmware 1.34) to enable LibreDrive.

Here's my drive info:

MSG:1005,0,1,"MakeMKV v1.18.2 win(x64-release) started","%1 started","MakeMKV v1.18.2 win(x64-release)"
DRV:0,2,999,28,"BD-RE PIONEER BD-RW BDR-S09 1.34 QGDL018648CN","INDEPENDENCE_DAY_RESURGENCE","D:"

DRV:14,256,999,0,"","",""
DRV:15,256,999,0,"","",""

Can someone please PM me the SDFTool flasher and the firmware files for this drive (e.g., 1.03-MK.bin and a downgrade like GENE.bin for the RS8600 platform)? I've read the Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide and appreciate any help!

Thanks,

John

Don't ever update your drive from the manufacturer flashers they will only hurt you.

Luckily your drive can still be flashed to do UHD see below for email to send the makmkv drive info section to

The main work to support Pioneer drives is done. MakeMKV should work with most Pioneer drives in LibreDrive mode. All drives starting from BDR-208 should be (eventually) supported, including rebranded ASUS/Optiarc/Verbatim clones.

This can be checked by drive platform:
RS1xxx - old firmware, could be technically supported, but too much hassle to make it happen. Likely would stay unsupported.
RS8000 - transitional firmware, mostly BDR-207 drives. Likely would stay unsupported.
RS8xxx and later, including RS9xxx RSAxxx and so on. Should be supported.

At the time of this writing none of the Pioneer drives require firmware update - they should just work.

If youre drive is listed above but is not supported, it means that it is not yet added to SDF.bin . Please post the drive model here.

Please do post any Pioneer specific issues in this topic.
Hello, I just started looking into NAS storage units since I just got out of college and don't really have the money to spend on subscriptions. I want to have my own media collection to where I can have my DVDs, blu-ray, and 4K UHD movies digitally copied. I am new and not really understanding all of this, and don't really have $200-300 to drop on a Pioneer/LG/Asus driver that comes with UHD capability. I came upon this forum and was curious about how to tell what the drive platform is of a optical driver is before buying? I was thinking about going with Pioneer either BDR-212DBK or BDR-209MBK. Do you think either one of these will need to be flashed or anything in order to work with makeMKV?

both of those can do UHD after being flashed but they need fw before 12/22 or they cant be cross flashed

Ahh it seems that those are listed as $75 and $80 on Pioneer website but are not longer made, would you recommend any others that would be less than $100 that would just need to be flashed?

a drive below $100 is almost impossible to find now as they have been ut of production for over a year all the pioneers and lg stopped a few months ago too

i still have some xd08 if you want one but over $100 but still half the price of the ebay ones

Just a little out of my price range. I guess I'll have to just invest after a few months into my full-time job to get that much money. I'm assuming the LG GH24NSC0B isn't a good one either?
