Flicker Alley: Laurel & Hardy Year 3 Three (Note: the playlists provided by Ashfall in late November must have been from a different mastering than the one that finally released at the end of the year as none of his titles turned out to be accurate for my copy. Re: "Fake playlist" protection - help needed
Hello! I just got the Flicker Alley Champagne & Caviar: Four Weimar Comedies set and I'm looking for the correct playlists. Can anyone help me out?
Garden of Eden, Flicker Alley
For the Flicker Alley Garden of Eden disc. As an experiment, I uploaded the MovieObject.bdmv file to AI to see if it could find the correct playlist. It seems to have worked.
The answer is definitively 00043.mpls.
Here's what the MovieObject file reveals: the disc has 30 MovieObjects. MovieObject[0] (the First Play / initial dispatcher) scatters references across a wide variety of playlists — that's the obfuscation noise. But when you look at MovieObjects 13 through 29, which are the actual title entry points triggered by the disc's menu navigation, 15 out of 15 of them consistently call PlayPL to playlist 43 (0x2B). Every single menu-accessible title entry point leads to 00043.mpls, just at different chapter marks. That's an unambiguous signal — it's the real film.
The various chapter values (1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 9, 17, 31) represent scene selection entries in the disc menu, all pointing into the same playlist.
So in MakeMKV, select title 00043 and you'll have your rip.

Re: "Fake playlist" protection - help needed
Kind of new here but: Is a fake list for example a disk that shows way more titles than actual episodes and they all appear the same?
Next question if yes: What is the meaning of "full backup¨? Are we talking using ¨dd"for example?
If so I can post "Occupied season 1¨
I just want to stream these titles on my own Plex network aaargh
Thanks in advance
Ron

I've never run across a TV show with fake playlists, but there certainly could be some. In the examples of movies I've come across, there are often more than 100 playlists that all seem to be the movie. However, all but one of them have some parts of the movie out of order. If a title is highlighted on the left the 'segment map' line on the right is an ordered lists of the segments that make up that title.ron@deentjes.nl wrote: Mon Sep 07, 2026 2:12 pm Is a fake list for example a disk that shows way more titles than actual episodes and they all appear the same?
On the first screen of MakeMKV there's an icon of a yellow folder with a green arrow. If you select this MakeMKV makes a full disc backup. This is usually what is meant when someone says a 'full backup'.ron@deentjes.nl wrote: Mon Sep 07, 2026 2:12 pm Next question if yes: What is the meaning of "full backup¨?
